When you drink with a shrink, you get real really fast 👀

I’m beyond grateful to for helping me kick off Unmasked & Uncorked 🍷 A space where people can laugh, learn, and get a little unmasked… because gaining insight and getting (compassionately) clocked doesn’t have to happen in a therapist’s office.

Last time we uncorked, we played red-flag bingo and got real about the patterns we spot that no longer serve us in dating (and in ourselves 🙃).

Any guesses what we’ll be unpacking & unmasking next month? Hint: It has to do with getting through the holidays with a bit less emotional fckery…

📍Details dropping soon to come sip, laugh, and leave a little less fcked (in the best way).

Think about airports nowadays.⠀

We are simply NOT allowed to handle other people’s baggage. We are responsible for our own luggage... And that’s that. ⠀

What makes daily life and relationships any different?⠀

My mentor + colleague shared this metaphor with me, and it just stuck. ⠀

If it’s not our problem, we don’t need to find a solution to it...⠀
If it’s not our thought or feeling, we don’t need to take it on as our own...⠀
If it’s not our baggage, we simply don’t need to carry it!⠀

What do you think? Can you relate?? ⠀

Share what helps YOU to put down baggage that isn’t yours in the comments!⠀

Especially if you struggle with ADHD, dissociation, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, people-pleasing... Shall I continue?! 🙋🏼‍♀️⠀

Staying consistent can be HARD when you’ve got a lot going on in your world and in your brain. I struggle with it all the time... I mean, I’d say Exhibit A is how often I post on here! 🤷🏼‍♀️⠀

Just because being consistent can be a struggle doesn’t mean it’s not more than possible to build that muscle! 💪🏼⠀

Remember - Starting small is key. One step, or day (or post 😂) at a time. Momentum feeds motivation to keep doing whatever you’re trying to do... So get to it! 👏🏼⠀

Let’s talk boundaries when it comes to conflict, shall we? 🙌🏼⠀

Most people I know would rather have dental surgery than engage in conflict. 😂⠀
Why? Probably because most people have been doing more unfair fighting than not - And that doesn’t feel so good. 🤷🏼‍♀️⠀

This is where the B word comes in...⠀
BOUNDARIES, BABES. 👏🏼⠀

When we set up appropriate boundaries for ourselves when it comes to confrontation, we are more likely to engage in a healthy conflict and feel more safe + productive approaching confrontation in the future. ☺️⠀

Can you work on being a “Fair Fighter?” ⠀

Save + share for future reminders! ✔️⠀

Contrary to popular belief, time does not heal all wounds...⠀

We do the work to heal our wounds ourselves.⠀

Some wounds - like the ones formed through traumatic experiences - are more challenging to heal from + work through.⠀

Why? Because there are constant triggers in daily life that subconsciously remind us of our pain + our hurt.⠀

It almost becomes like white noise. It also becomes easy to re-traumatize ourselves by covering up our pain + not allowing ourselves the space to really process our emotions.⠀

We can only work so much / distract so much / avoid so much... Our feelings will eventually be triggered in such a way as to remind us that they need to be tended to.⠀

Healing is possible only when we learn to work through + manage our pain.⠀

We need to recognize that healing is not a linear process... And that it is okay if we are triggered back into a place of hurt at times, even when we think we “already processed” whatever it is we’re triggered by. ⠀

Let’s have tough conversations that bring relief.⠀
Let’s ask for help from those we trust.⠀
Let’s cry it out when we need to release.⠀

We can feel as well as we want to feel.⠀
We just have to do the work. ⠀
