Your cancer treatment center may have support resources or even a psycho-oncology program, or they may even refer you to someone like me at Drolet Psychiatry if you reside in CA.

Psycho-oncology = cancer psychiatry = mental health in cancer care

Here are three simple steps if you are struggling with your mental health at any point during your cancer journey.

Step 1: Know that specialty level services for mental health in cancer care exist.

Step 2: Ask your oncologist/palliative care doctor/primary care doctor to refer you to a psycho-oncologist if you are experiencing any psychological or emotional challenges related to your cancer diagnosis (any time from medical workup through remission or recurrence)

Step 3: Know you do not have to navigate this process alone.
