The Lancet Commission report on Women, Power and Cancer notes that women physicians and scientists in the cancer workforce experience "frequent and severe" discrimination/bullying/harassment. Harming the researchers and healers harms us all. ⤵

Women interact with cancer in complex ways, as healthy individuals participating in cancer prevention and screening activities, as individuals living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis, as caregivers for family members and friends, as patient advocates, as health workers and health-care professional...

Nobel laureate Katalin Kariko experienced rejection and demonstrated grit in the face of adversity. Now, she is being advised not to be "deterred" by the public recognition. Why can't a woman scientist be celebrated and enjoy the well-earned experience?

On Monday, Katalin Karikó won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine, but her journey to prestige has been punctuated with more hurdles than catalysts.

Apparently men can't train women without being tempted to sexually harass them. The solution can't be excluding women from the profession-any profession. Let's enforce rules that govern professional behavior be unafraid to address the problems. ⤵

Three women filed a discrimination complaint against a trucking company over its same-sex training policy, which they say prevented them from being hired.

On this Nobel week while we celebrate 2 women winners so far, we must remember the women who have not been included like Lise Meitner. Giving credit to those who do the work matters. ⬇ https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/02/science/lise-meitner-fission-nobel.html

Lise Meitner developed the theory of nuclear fission, the process that enabled the atomic bomb. But her identity — Jewish and a woman — barred her from sharing credit for the discovery, newly translated letters show.
