HAPPY NEW MOON!
2025 SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON begins EARTH RAT Lunar Month.
Dec 19, 2025 at 5:43 pm PT is a new Moon in Sagittarius. Fire sign Sagittarius rules the ninth house of education, philosophy, and travel. Fiery and fun Sagittarius can bring a new burst of energy, optimism, and cheer this holiday season. The new Moon, Sun, Mercury, and Venus are all in Sagittarius, so everyone has lots to say and activities to attend. There’s pleasure to be found in new adventures, and it’s easier to let go of old stories to create a new identity, new values, and experience reinvention.
Sagittarian light and bright energy might need to become serious at times because the new Moon, Sun, and Venus square Saturn conjunct Neptune in Pisces. With the Saturn square, people might not feel like doing the hard work in relationships, or pausing the good times to take responsibility. With the Neptune square, people might not be realistic about their expectations, or prefer illusions instead of the truth.
Fortunately, Uranus in Ta**us sextiles Saturn conjunct Neptune. You can enjoy creative change while keeping your individual freedom and self expression. There’s increased interest in spiritual ideals and mysticism whereby orthodox philosophies are no longer fulfilling as you realize you’ve outgrown them. Plus Jupiter in Cancer trines Saturn to bring stability. You can work slowly and patiently to build toward the future.
This new Moon begins the lunar month of the Earth Rat. Rat is honored for being clever and intelligent, and symbolizes wealth and fertility. The element Earth adds to Rat’s ingenuity to make a prosperous and successful Rat who is loyal, practical, grounded, and resourceful. All Rats are naturally good with money, making this Earth Rat month the ideal time to organize your finances.
Busy Rat is nocturnal. The hours of the Rat are 11 pm to 1 am, the darkest time of night. The darkest night of the solar year in the northern hemisphere will be Winter Solstice on Dec 21 at 7:03 am PT. The second new Moon after Winter Solstice begins Chinese New Year.
