Baby tapped out, I did NOT, and now we’re both just confused 😭

Be real, how many times has this happened today? 😆

It’s 3 AM. You’re exhausted. The baby wakes again, and you feel irritation or anger instead of calm.

That can be postpartum rage, and it’s more common than most people realize.

It’s often connected to sleep deprivation, hormonal changes after birth, and constant overstimulation. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom, it means you’re overwhelmed and in need of support.

You’re doing more than enough in a really intense season of life.

And you don’t have to figure it out alone 🤍

Breastfeeding isn’t just physical, your nervous system is involved too. 🧠🤍

While you’re nursing, your body is processing a lot at once, hormones shifting, constant touch, sounds around you, lack of sleep, and your baby needing you. It’s a lot for one nervous system to handle.

That’s why some moms feel irritable, overwhelmed, or suddenly “on edge” during feeds. And if that’s happened to you, you’re definitely not alone.

The good news is that small body cues can help your brain settle a bit.

Things like, dropping your shoulders and relaxing your neck, taking a slow breath while sipping water, lowering noise or stimulation around you, these little shifts can help your body move from stress mode to a calmer state, which can make breastfeeding feel a little easier in the moment.

Your body isn’t broken. It’s just doing a lot during this postpartum season. 🤍

I actually made a free guide for moms that explains why breastfeeding can sometimes bring up big emotions and what’s happening in your body.

Comment GUIDE and I’ll send it to you. 💛

I’ve been the kitchen, the snack bar, and the emotional support line all day 😭

By 5 PM even blinking feels overstimulating, why is everything so LOUD??

If your brain starts buffering by evening, you’re not crazy, you’re just touched out. 🧠

This is the face of a nervous system at its limit. 💔

If you’ve ever felt a sudden wave of anger, skin-crawling irritability, or the urge to just get away the moment your baby latches, you aren’t “mean.” You are likely experiencing Breastfeeding Aversion or D-MER.

It’s a physical response, not a reflection of your love for your baby. But the guilt makes it feel like it’s your fault.

I’ve been there. I know the “on edge” feeling that makes every touch feel like too much. That’s exactly why I wrote this for you.

Stop white-knuckling through every feed. Download my FREE GUIDE: “Understanding Breastfeeding Emotions – Why You Might Feel Irritable or On Edge” to understand the why and learn how to regulate your body again. 🕊️

I’ve been there, that moment when the baby latches and instead of feeling "peaceful," your skin starts to crawl and your nervous system feels like it’s on fire.

It’s called being "touched out," and it’s not a reflection of your love for your baby, it’s actually your biology (hello, prolactin and hyper-alertness!) trying to protect them while you’re running on empty. If you feel more snappy than soft lately, give yourself some grace. Your body is doing a lot, and it’s okay to feel overstimulated. 🤍

Comment ‘ME’ if you’ve ever felt this, let’s normalize these real postpartum feelings.

If your milk supply feels low, I want you to know you’re not alone. 🤍

One technique I often recommend to moms I support is power pumping. It helps mimic a baby’s cluster feeding and can gently signal your body to make more milk.

Don’t stress if you’re not seeing much milk during the session, the goal is stimulation, not immediate output. Try doing this once a day for a few days and see how your body responds.

And remember to drink water and take care of yourself too.

📌 Save this for your next pumping session

If you’re thinking about switching to formula, I just want you to know you don’t have to navigate that decision alone. Feeding challenges can feel incredibly overwhelming, and sometimes you just need someone to walk through it with you.

As an IBCLC, I support moms who are struggling with latching, supply concerns, pain, or simply feeling unsure about what to do next. Sometimes small changes and the right support can make a big difference.

Whatever you decide for your feeding journey, you deserve to feel supported, informed, and confident. 🤍

If you’re going through this right now and need guidance, send me a DM. I’d be happy to help.

And if you know a mom who might need this reminder, share this with her.
