Grounded

Movement, stillness and connection. These are the common themes that draws yoga, massage therapy and meditation nicely together. As I sit in the library in the hilly Potrero neighborhood, relaxing on the second floor- the sun starts to show itself and I am facing the small but formidable city of SF observing it. I do not ponder as I usually do. Instead I take a breath and think of action. “What are the things I would like to see happen in the year 2020?”- I ask no one in particular.

I will write. I will dance. I will live and I will love. I plan to share the things that I love and that helps me move forward, sober and aware growing as a person, exploring, accepting and surrendering. Exploring, accepting and surrendering are some of the most freeing activities that I get to work with everyday. To practice complete surrender to life as life is, a little bit at a time, doing the next right thing then turning it over is a trip! When I do what feels good to my soul and my personal moral compass- I do not have to look back and think about what I have done. Yes, I might still hurt myself and hurt others but it is easier to apologize, being true to myself leads to less destruction around me.

I also have been learning to be less angry with myself, that has been the greatest lesson in 2019 that was brought to my attention and that I take into 2020 and tackle head on. I did not realize how hard I had been with myself and in turn, hard on others. I have been learning how to be firm and gentle with myself and it has been so exciting to picture the kind of ideal adult who gets that responsibility to take care of inner child Ela. I get to mother myself, taking the to be patient and encourage my growth. Allowing space to play, make mistakes and enable the creation of a life that blossoms healthy and bright!

Practicing yoga allows one to be creative, to be grounded, to fly, to be upside down and still think clearly. Try it this year.
