We are thrilled to announce the newest member of the Commission on the Status of Women, Cecilia Chung. Commissioner Chung is a world-renowned activist and leader on social issues. She is a long time advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness and care, as well as LGBTQ+ equity issues. Ms. Chung was born in Hong Kong and emigrated to the United States with her family as a child. She is a proud transwoman and was the inspiration for a character in the ABC miniseries, When We Rise. She has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the San Francisco Pride Board, the Transgender Discrimination Task Force, and the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS under former President Obama.
