The other day, Liza walked into a store and did something she’s done thousands of times, she pulled the door open. But this time, she immediately felt sharp pain shoot through her neck and down her spine. Within seconds, she couldn’t move her head up or down, left or right. It was shocking how something so small could cause so much pain. She went straight back to the office, and Dr. Polski was kind enough to check on her.
During her visit, he explained that what happened wasn’t just a random strain, it was likely a long time coming. Liza’s posture while sitting (especially at the front desk for hours every day) had been putting her spine and muscles under constant, uneven stress. When your body is out of alignment, even simple movements, like opening a door, can be the “last straw” that tips things over.
Dr. Polski started by working on her diaphragm, explaining that it plays a key role in posture and core stability. When the diaphragm is restricted or imbalanced, it can affect how the rest of the body moves and compensates; everything from breathing patterns to how your spine and ribs align. From there, he worked on her right arm and shoulder, since that was the side she used to pull the door. Liza didn’t realize how much tension had built up there until Dr. Polski started releasing the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles). Through manual therapy and balancing techniques, he restored mobility she didn’t even know she’d lost.
Finally, Dr. Polski adjusted her neck, upper ribs, and spine, and Liza felt immediate relief. By the time she got up from the table, she could move her head again. The next day, Liza only felt mild soreness, a normal part of the healing process, but she was amazed by how quickly her body responded once it was aligned again.
