Starting with a new family this week! I always find myself marveling at how tiny they are right in the beginning! I find it so satisfying to get a bunch of things done while I'm wearing baby so the parents can chill for a bit.

Finished up with a great client this week. I wonder if it will eventually get easier to say goodbye... I create such wonderful relationships with these little ones and even more importantly with the parents! I'll truly miss these clients so much! But I'm excited to start all over with another family today!

I love multitasking! I've always been good at doing many things at once but working as a postpartum doula I've become a multitasking pro! Mama came out from her nap to find tons of food prep and cooking finished and a sleeping baby snuggling a happy postpartum doula. I love getting everything on the list completed!

Rocking the Baby K'Tan carrier today. Was able to fold laundry, peel and chop veggies and take out the garbage while both mom and baby slept.

Finished my birth doula training this evening with Cornerstone in San Francisco. What a wonderful training! Nickie is fabulous. So excited....I can't wait to attend my first birth and capture beautiful moments like this one.

How lucky are we, as doulas, that we are able to practice a profession which allows us to provide a safe space for women to practice vulnerability. The bond formed from consistently meeting the needs of someone at their most vulnerable is a true gift for both parties.

Today I was working with a prepartum mama who has full placenta previa and is home on bedrest trying to keep her little one inside as long as possible.
Pomegranates are one of her favorite fall fruits and she reluctantly asked me if I could harvest the seeds (knowing it is tedious work). I was of course more than happy to help.
I had to confess I'd made it this far in life never having cut open a pomegranate. She gave me some verbal instructions and I was surprised with the most beautiful image I've ever seen inside a fruit. Nature is magical.
I'd say I did a pretty good job for a first timer ;)
Do you have a special technique to deseed your pomegranates or do you buy your seeds already removed??

Started my day with a big smile this morning thanks to my barista. I've seen flowers, hearts and swirly designs but never a toothy grin in my latte! What have you seen in your lattes?
