You may or may not have noticed (chances are you didn’t), but I took a few weeks off from blogging. It may not seem like such a big deal to you, but for me, it was. One reason for this sentiment was that I have hit the publish button weekly for one year and three …

Be sure to check out these 5 tips for keeping your young ones in top shape this winter season if you missed this recent post.

By now we know to limit sugar intake for optimal health, but what can be tricky is that it can often be disguised as other names. And some of these aliases may even sound like healthier choices, but don’t be fooled. Sugar is still sugar and the body will not recognize one form as better …

If you enjoy music, and perhaps seeing me play drums (hint, hint), be sure to check out this post.

There is a lesson in this post, however, and I promise it's not just a way to get you to watch my few YouTube vids 😀.

Have an awesome day ✌🏽

Watch me play a cover of Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder on drums. Similarly to keeping an exercise log or food journal, documenting my progress on drums over the years via video recordings (I’m still a somewhat beginner/intermediate level drummer at 6 years in) serves to help me improve upon my skillset…

I have been creating and enjoying more smoothies these days. Maybe it’s due to the warmer temperatures we’ve been experiencing in the San Francisco Bay area? Or, admittedly I’ve been a bit bored with my go-to breakfast of smoked salmon paired with greens and/or kraut — and drinking a smoothie saves…

While this post will not go into the minutiae of exact foods that are allowed and forbidden while following the official 21-Day Sugar Detox, I’d like to share some meals that I, myself, or clients have prepared recently that are detox-friendly foods.     While not all fruits are allowed on the 21DSD...

I addressed some questions I get asked often regarding popular breakfast foods in this week's blog post.

Is low-fat yogurt a healthy breakfast choice? This is a question that I often get asked, so I’d like to share my thoughts in this post. Low-fat yogurt is not my preferred choice in yogurts. "Taking precaution to regulate your sugar intake is especially important if you suffer from anxiety and/or depression. Besides burdening the liver and contributing to unwanted fat stores, excess sugar consumption can increase the body’s production of adrenaline and stress hormones which left unchecked can tax the adrenals and contribute to anxiety. Deluging your body with the sweet stuff wrecks your blood sugar and energy levels, surely affecting your mood and brain health as well."

Check out which other foods to avoid and ones to eat more of to help manage anxiety and/or stress symptoms.

This was originally written for and published on MarthaStewart.com. Click here to read original. What you eat and drink can contribute to or lessen the anxiety and stress you experience. While eliminating stress entirely is not realistic, improving nutritional intake can help to bolster your diet —…
