We made this with Elana before the last Winter Olympics, when GOLD was still the dream. She talked about doing it for her son. About the long road. About showing him what perseverance looks like.

Now she’s an Olympic gold medalist. 🥇We are beyond proud to have been part of telling this story, directed by , back when the outcome was still unwritten. This is why we believe so much in human driven brand films at Avocados & Coconuts. When the story is real, it lasts far beyond the campaign.

We won a Peabody. WOW

Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa has officially been awarded a Peabody for Best Documentary — one of the most meaningful honors in storytelling.

This isn’t just a win for our film — it’s a win for Lhakpa Sherpa. For a woman who climbed Everest ten times and still lived in near anonymity. For someone who defied every odd, and yet was too often unseen by the world.
We told this story to help change that. And now, the Peabody Awards — a beacon for the most powerful and necessary stories in media — have helped her voice reach far beyond the mountain.
We are beyond grateful to our incredible team that helped us tell her story, and most of all, to Lhakpa, for trusting us with her story.
This award is a reminder that stories like hers matter — and that sometimes, when you shine a light in the right direction, the whole world finally looks.

And now… if we can just get her the sponsorship she deserves so she can keep climbing. 💪🏼🙏🏼

Yesterday was quite a day 

 “Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa” is yours! We’re overwhelmed with the love the film has gotten so far, and we’re incredibly excited that it is now live on Netflix, in 190 countries, and millions of homes.

This was such a labor of love for so many years for the team. We always dreamed that Lhakpa’s story would be told and shared with as many people as possible, and now, that dream is finally realized.

No one deserves the spotlight more than Lhakpa, and there seems like no better time to remind the world of the power and resilience of a strong woman 💪🏼🙏🏼. We believe you’ll feel the same after watching her story.

Congrats to the whole team. And Enjoy!!!

“Did you just say… mumble-gore?”

We had so much fun conceptualizing and producing this year’s trailer for the 44th Annual San Francisco Jewish Film Festival!

We’re always excited by the chance to film in all the different nooks and crannies of our city. Shooting with a diverse group of actors and non-actors in locations throughout San Francisco, we hoped to capture our love for SF and SF’s love for film.

We took this project from concept to delivery in just about 3 weeks - which would have been completely impossible without a lot of generosity from our extended family…

A huge thanks to Yvette Solis for directing and captaining the ship, Ray Connoly for his humor and wit in scripting it, Scott Sorenson our talented DP, our in-house PM, Gabby Occhipinti for producing and wrangling a million details, and the entire incredible team of collaborators who lent their talent and expertise.

We’re excited to share the final piece in a couple of days. See you at the festival!

April 2024 marked the 10th anniversary of our feature doc, A Film About Coffee. 10 years! To celebrate the milestone, we got the band back together for a Tokyo reunion tour.

We decided we’d take another look at Tokyo coffee, to see how it’s evolved over the past decade. We have a real soft spot for Japan having shot there 9 times already, so we set out to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones. It did not disappoint—incredible food, incredible people, and of course, incredible coffee! Here are a few behind the scenes highlights of what we have brewing.

Although we did not win - we are still incredibly honored to have been selected both as a nominee in the branded documentary category and received an honorable mention in the unscripted category.
Well done to the whole incredible team who worked on this project - Brandon Loper Jon Barnhardt and the whole avos team. Jed Jacobsohn. Thank you to Nike Basketball for being an incredible client and of course Kevin Durant for being the champion he is.
