The power of putting things in your calendar is kind of amazing.

Have you noticed that when you schedule something, you're much more likely to do it? There's something about creating the event on your calendar that jumpstarts commitment.

And sometimes, that's all you need to turn something you've been meaning to do, into something you're actually doing.

What is forgiveness, really?

The clip above comes from our recent Fireside Chat on Forgiveness, where we explored how this powerful practice begins — not with others, but within ourselves.

Forgiveness isn’t forgetting or excusing; it’s the gentle act of releasing the hold the past has on your heart.

If this conversation resonates, come explore it more deeply in our 8-week Forgiveness Series, where we’ll practice how to let go with awareness and compassion.

What do you want to focus on today?

Wherever you choose to put your attention, that's what you'll notice. So if you decide to look for beauty when you're outside, you'll notice the way sunlight falls through tree leaves or the smell of a neighbor's flowers. Anything that you'd consider beautiful will leap out at you.

The opposite is true, too. If you decide to look for ugliness, you'll see the trash someone threw out of a car window or the peeling paint on the side of a house - and you'll totally miss the sunlight and the flowers.

In meditation, you practice choosing where you put your focus, bringing your attention back to that focus again and again. That makes it second nature to choose what you focus on when you're out in the world.

Put yourself in the driver's seat of your attention: join one of our teachers , .mindfulness, , or for a live online meditation class this week!

Forgiveness isn’t a straight line.

Fear, anger, sadness, even numbness can all show up — and that’s okay. Each emotion is a teacher, not a barrier. Growth comes from befriending what we resist — with compassion and courage.

As you move through this journey, gratitude and compassion become your anchors. They don’t erase pain, but they create bridges to softness and release. Try this: name one small thing you often take for granted and notice how acknowledging it opens your heart.

Forgiveness also means clarity. It’s not about staying in harmful situations — it’s about honoring both softness and strength, building healthy boundaries, and practicing compassion without self-abandonment.

When you commit to forgiveness, you gain:
✅ Freedom from emotional burdens
✅ Clarity and renewed purpose
✅ Tools to meet fear, anger, sadness, and numbness
✅ Connection and community support
✅ Sustainable heart practices

Forgiveness isn’t about condoning harm, forgetting, or bypassing difficult emotions. It’s a courageous practice of releasing what no longer serves us and cultivating freedom of heart.

Why does this matter? Because holding onto resentment or anger costs us in clarity, energy, and peace. It weighs heavy on our hearts and relationships.

When we cling to resentment, we often pay the price through:
• Emotional drain — stuck in rumination
• Physical stress — tension, low immunity, constant stress response
• Relationship strain — when we can’t let go, trust and connection suffer

Forgiveness can free us from these burdens. But it begins with ourselves. Shame, guilt, and self-judgment often block our ability to extend grace to others.

Try this today: place a hand on your heart, breathe deeply, and say to yourself: “I love you.”

How does that feel? Whether it comes easily or feels challenging, it reflects the very work you’re ready to embark on. This is where the journey of forgiveness begins.

Does forgiveness feel like a "should" to you?

Forgiving someone can seem like something you should do, but not something you want to do. Often, that's because we don't want to condone what someone did, and we think forgiving them means saying it's ok that it happened. So, we hold onto resentment and anger - and it hurts!

What if you could let go of the pain without feeling like you're condoning the person who caused it? Suddenly, forgiveness stops being a "should" and starts being a key to more energy, clarity, and peace.

Come explore forgiveness this week with one of our teachers , .mindfulness, , , , or .

Many of our teachers will be focusing their classes on it this week - and next Thursday, we'll have a deeper conversation that we'd love for you to join. Comment FORGIVE below for a link to register.
