Wow, a wonderful feelings list and body sensations list.

Also, I'm grateful that I completed the weeklong The Hoffman Process program in 2019. It was really life changing for me.

Parts of us learn to adapt to our caregiver's needs and behaviors in order to survive our childhood. Parts such as Inner critics, people pleasers, or conflict avoidance. As we grow up, we can witness, appreciate, update, and liberate these parts; and become more fully our true Selves.

Gabor Mate talks about how children have two survival needs--attachment to caregivers and authenticity.

Early on, protective parts of us need to "people please"/stay alert/repress/etc. to maintain our connection (attachment) with our caregivers. The unintended consequence is that we often can't be truth (authentic) to ourselves or others.

"If you wish to give your children the best possible gift, the best possible entry into life, remove your shadow from them.

To give them a clean heritage, psychologically speaking, is the greatest legacy."

Maintaining a real and meaningful connection + practicing healthy communication and conflict…

REQUIRES:

•growing and healing as individuals: have you two explored your past and what is impacting you and your patterns? healing our pasts allows us to be the best we can for each other

•emotional mastery: recognizing and owning our triggers, how we handle our own emotions, how we express them to each other. (Your emotions can be a point of bonding between you, rather than a place of destruction)

•having hard conversations: you cannot have real intimacy if you cannot share and speak your truth with each other. we must be able to face harder moments with each other and hear each other out. but focus on having “hard conversations” where you create a safe space for each other.

Question: are you both a safe landing for each other emotionally? Meaning, you embrace each other in these harder emotions and conversations?

If you want to create more closeness and better embrace these harder moments, please take advantage of the free & live Marriage WebClass we’re hosting on August 17th!

It will guide you in: handling hard conversations, creating a safe space for each other’s emotions, and communication that creates closeness.

Reposting an oldie but goodie about how social conditioning (and programming) can happen. How have your parts been conditioned to perform jobs /roles that you are automatic? When we become conscious / aware, we start to have choices.
