How do you narrow Seattle down to just three things? There are a lot of unique and accessible experiences packed into this city.

A harbor cruise with Argosy Cruises provides a different perspective of the city, and you'll get a dose of Seattle's distinct history. As far as food and drink goes - the options are limitless. An easy go-to, since Seattle is right on the water, is the fresh seafood. Not just classic chowder or fish n chips, but their famous salmon, Dungeness crab, and oysters are worth a try.

One of the fun parts of visiting a new city is wandering around and seeing what you come across. Seattle is full of parks like the Olympic Sculpture Park, a 9-acre waterfront park filled with artwork from renowned artists. The Overlook Walk connects Pike Place Market down to the waterfront with views of Elliott Bay along the way.

On top of that, you’ve got world-class museums, music and cultural offerings around every corner. And, if you’re in town during the season, catching a game with one of the city’s beloved sports teams is very much part of the experience.

Many amazing spots are verified, including hotels, attractions and restaurants. Check them out: https://wheeltheworld.com/accessible-travel/usa/washington/seattle

Opened over a century ago in 1907, Pike Place Market is a must-visit if you go to Seattle.

It sits right above Elliott Bay and is one of the city’s most iconic spots, filled with local vendors, fresh seafood, flower stalls, and small shops that have been around for decades.

You’ll likely catch the famous fish toss at the fish market, a long-standing tradition that started as a way for vendors to work more efficiently and has since become part of the market’s identity.

Pike Place Market is lively and can get quite busy throughout the day, but it’s still doable for wheelchair users.

Grab some chowder or fish n’ chips (or both), wander around, and enjoy a market that’s been a core part of the Emerald City for generations.

Also worth noting, just steps away you’ll find the original Starbucks location. Nearby, the Seattle Waterfront offers views of the bay and access to boat tours like Argosy Cruises.

Pike Place Market and other key spots around Seattle were visited by Wheel the World mappers. They went on-site to measure the details that actually matter and take photos, so travelers with disabilities can see what to expect before they arrive.

Have you ever been to Seattle? This is your sign to visit! It sits between the water and the mountains, and with its distinct neighborhoods and strong food scene, travelers can experience it all.

Maggie and Brad visited Seattle for the first time, and as two wheelchair users, they explored how the city works from an accessibility standpoint. Across many of the key areas and attractions, they found spaces that were navigable and welcoming to disabled travelers.

These included the famous Pike Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, The Waterfront and Argosy Cruises, and more.

And now, Seattle is an Accessibility Verified destination! This means expert mappers have gone on-site to assess hotels, attractions, and restaurants. That information is turned into detailed, accurate listings, so travelers with disabilities can plan trips knowing what to expect before they arrive.

Some are frustrating. Others? Just plain ridiculous.

🏨 Hotels saying they’re accessible but has no information
📞 Requesting a room and not getting it upon arrival
🚽 Not being able to find an accessible restroom
✈️ Airports, flying in general…

And so many more things. Which one do you run into the most?
