Bioindividual Nutrition Training Earn certification and join a global community of leading practitioners.

Exclusive program in therapeutic diets & personalized nutrition—gain capability to solve complex chronic health challenges, with a pediatric specialty track for autism, ADHD, & more. Every individual has unique dietary needs based on their biochemistry, health history, and food reactions. Customizing dietary strategy is essential, yet it requires advanced knowledge, science, and practical tools. Our Professional Program equips practitioners to master therapeutic diets and personalized nutrition—providing the strategies, resources, and technology tools needed to improve client outcomes and grow a successful practice. Led by Julie Matthews, MS, CNC, a globally recognized nutrition expert with more than 20 years of clinical experience, published research, and award-winning books, this program unites evidence-based science with practical application. Julie has educated physicians and health professionals through leading organizations including ARI/DAN!, IMMH, MAPS, and the MINDD Forum in Australia. She is the co-author of two peer-reviewed studies: one published in Nutrients (2018), proving diet and nutrition intervention improves autism symptoms, and another in the Journal of Personalized Medicine (2023), showing multiple diets to be more effective than medication—validating the BioIndividual Nutrition® approach taught in this training. BioIndividual Nutrition® is the science and clinical application of personalized diet and nutrition intervention—addressing the root imbalances often found in chronic health conditions: immune, digestive, cellular, and detoxification function. These underlying factors can make people highly sensitive to foods and chemicals, even seemingly healthy ones, contributing to inflammation, pain, mood, and behavioral challenges. Through this program, you’ll gain the capability to individualize food and nutrition recommendations with precision, improving outcomes and satisfaction for your clients or patients. Graduates earn certification as BioIndividual Nutrition Practitioners and join a supportive global network of professionals and researchers committed to advancing healthcare through personalized nutrition. Certified practitioners are listed in our directory, connecting them with clients seeking this advanced expertise.

There are many body systems and biochemical processes that need to work properly for the body to be healthy and the brain to function well- they require nutrients, a normal inflammatory response, good cellular metabolic function, proper digestion, and adequate detoxification. Most neurological and childhood disorders are whole body disorders.

A grain and starch free diet and low FODMAPS (FODMAPS are fermentabld carbohydrates that bacteria feed on) diet can be quite helpful for SIBO and dysbiosis for some patients. However, for other individuals completely different principles are necessary.

There are many reasons for this, from mistakes clinicians make about food recommendations to implementation strategies. In other words, when you change a diet you may inadvertently ADD problematic foods to the set or REMOVE problematic foods too quickly!

"You can’t use adaptogenic herbs and think they’ll help you push through those all nighters or increased work load. Sure they’ll help. But if you’re not dialing back your stress, then these herbs aren’t about to push you to work harder.

It is ok to use adaptogenic herbs during times of stress. In fact, they can be tremendously helpful. But if there is no end in sight to that stress then the priority should be stress reduction first then supplementation."

Dr. Jolene Brighten shares some great insight on herbal adaptogens!

“Every little stressor feels like the end for me! I’m screaming at my kids, my husband, and gritting my teeth with co-workers for at least the last 6 months,” Alice shared in her first visit. She was 10 months postpartum with her first baby and holding down a fulltime job on top of a household...

Interesting piece on nutrient depletion in our food based on atmosphere changes.

"Earlier this summer, a group of researchers published the first studies attempting to estimate what these shifts could mean for the global population. Plants are a crucial source of protein for people in the developing world, and by 2050, they estimate, 150 million people could be put at risk of protein deficiency, particularly in countries like India and Bangladesh. Researchers found a loss of zinc, which is particularly essential for maternal and infant health, could put 138 million people at risk. They also estimated that more than 1 billion mothers and 354 million children live in countries where dietary iron is projected to drop significantly, which could exacerbate the already widespread public health problem of anemia."

The atmosphere is literally changing the food we eat, for the worse. And almost nobody is paying attention.

A grain-free, paleo, specific carb, or GAPS are commonly touted as ways to address digestive conditions. However, many of these diet protocols are very specific and include high amounts of foods that some some people do not tolerate. It’s one of the biggest mistakes I see people come to me for in my nutrition practice!

"The person is not just their genes-but rather a combination of genes and the environment. The environment is more than the air I breath, the food I eat, or the chemicals I'm exposed to. It's also my internal environment. The unique microbes that inhabit my body"

"An exciting study indicates that supplementation with methyl B12 (the coenzyme or active form of vitamin B12 which is also known as methylcobalamin) could lead to an overall amelioration of autism symptoms by improving DNA methylation. You see, not all genes are active at all times: it is the role of DNA methylation, an epigenetic mechanism, to turn a cell’s genes on and off at the appropriate time – this process appears to be impaired in many individuals with autism."
