6 of 10 Reasons to Give: RAMS Provides Vital Care for Children and Youth

Each year, RAMS Children Youth and Families Counseling Services work with more than 200 children and youth who rely on public health insurance to access therapy services, crisis intervention, referral services, and more critical services.

Research from the National Alliance on Mental Health shows that 70%-80% of children and adolescents with mental health disorders show significant improvement when they receive appropriate services and support.

5 of 10 Reasons to Give: RAMS Strengthens Life-Saving Support for Pacific Islanders

20% of surveyed high school students seriously considered attempting su***de in the past year, with Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander students were more likely to attempt su***de than students of other racial groups (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 2023).

One of our participants in the RAMS Pacific Islander Wellness Initiative (PIWI) shared “community informed and in-language mental health services are important to me because they saved my life… I don't think I would keep powering through life the way I am if it wasn't for people like my coworkers and counselors at RAMS.”

3 of 10 Reasons to Give: RAMS Removes Barriers to Care for Youth

Those in need know the feeling when meeting someone who listens and assists in services that help them move forward. Having a listening ear is a core value of RAMS, and we work to support those facing critical challenges.

Since 1999, RAMS has worked to support students who are navigating stress, depression, and trauma in schools through our High School-Based Wellness Centers. Now with counselors in all 19 of the public high schools, there is a noticed trend in rapid increase in youth mental crisis and need for mental health services.

2 of 10 Reasons to Give: RAMS Strengthens Community Care

RAMS reached 41,000 adults and children last year across San Francisco and Alameda Counties, through our community-based outreach and health education programs that are at risk of decreases in funding in the coming years.

Your donation helps promote culturally informed mental wellness and to provide health education for hard-to-reach community members who often face significant barriers to care.

We’re excited to launch our 2025 “10 Reasons to Give” campaign today! 🎉

1 of 10 Reasons to Give: RAMS Supports Youth Through Growing Mental Health Need

The Asian American Foundation’s 2024 study shows 48% of AANHPI young people showed signs of moderate to severe depression, with the risk being higher for females, multiracial youth, LGBTQ+ youth, and those aged 18-25.

At RAMS, we meet youth’s growing need for mental health support through our High School-Based Wellness Centers and Transitional Aged Youth programs. Each year, thousands of struggling young people rely on these services to stay connected and supported.

Today RAMS joined San Francisco leaders and community partners to celebrate five years of the Street Crisis Response Team (SCRT).

Since the launch of SCRT, RAMS peer counselors have been a vital part of every team, working alongside the San Francisco Fire Department to deliver rapid, community-centered care to individuals experiencing crises on City streets.

We’re grateful for our ongoing collaborations with the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management, San Francisco Fire Department, SF Public Health, and San Francisco Department of Homelessness & Supportive Housing, as we continue strengthening behavioral health response for the vulnerable communities.
