Well, have you looked yet? Here is a great place to start. You will need the ED # and know where your relatives lived to find them. It's easy, I swear, but they aren't indexed yet so you will be looking at a lot of pages. However, this is a great way to FAN out and look for friends, family and neighbors of your relatives. This can help to understand relationships later. In my small farming community, you really stuck close.

Start out at stevemorse(dot) org and find your ED # on his very easy system. Then, head here...

The 1950 census records were released by the U.S. National Archives on April 1, 2022. This website provides full access to the 1950 census images, including population schedules, enumeration district maps, and enumeration district descriptions.

I found my first relative in the 1950 census!

My most wonderful great uncle and aunt with whom I lived with for a bit but many ahem, years later.

It's so exciting to finally see people I knew in the census. Sure, some "greats" but now off to find my parents!

The time is here!!! I am so excited about the release of the 1950 US Federal Census. This will be the first time I get to see MY parents on a census. I know, I know there are far more exciting things in the world than to see just names, dates and addresses on a census but for me, yay!!!

The records will not be indexed like you can usually find on FamilySearch or Ancestry as that will take time after their release on April 1st, but there are ways to find the people who you have yet to see on a census.

Read up on what to do and put a reminder on your calendar!

Photography has been a part of my whole life. I love making photographs, looking at photographs, studying photographs. The historical importance of them cannot be denied.

I still have the feels from looking at an original Westin pepper photograph at an art gallery in NYC. I was inches away from a master!

I recently helped out a friend and it made me think just how easy it is to share something so simple but so important. I'd like to offer to anyone responding to this, an enhanced image of one of your historical family photographs. I've done this to numerous of my own and not everyone has the software, skills, time or desire and for me, it is rather easy. So, send your favorite historical family photograph and I'll do my best to bring a little more life to it. Message me for details.

Misti Layne’s photographic creativity and her ability to capture an unexpected moment in time have long been known to me, and many others whose image has been captured through her camera lens. Misti’s talent as a photo editor became even more clear when she “took liberties” with a faded, probably very low-resolution, image of my grandparent’s wedding party, which I had copied and pasted from an online obituary page. To say I was impressed with the results would be an understatement of grand proportion.

I was so happy to have found the original image, that the quality—or lack thereof—didn’t even cross my mind, I knew it was my grandparents and I guess my mind just filled in the blanks. When Misti tweaked the image into focus and made the necessary edits, their faces came to life. There was my lovely grandmother and my grandfather at his most handsome moment, with all their closest friends in attendance on what was her most special day, her Birthday and their Wedding Day.

Misti’s kind gesture to refurbish an old friend’s photo without being asked shows her true spirit of generosity and a love of her craft that does not go unnoticed.

The oldest family tree in the world has been reconstructed through the analysis of ancient DNA taken from a Stone Age tomb in Britain, according to a new study published Wednesday.

I've been waiting a bit for this and so excited it finally arrived. It really gives a great visual to my ancestors and perspective over reading about them or trying to scroll around on a computer screen. The amount of hours of work in this is tremendous but these are the people who all helped to make me. Yes, I can do this for you as well!

This is so true. As a kid, I knew my grandmother did genealogy but I just didn't appreciate it. I randomly fell into it and well, fell down a hole to China. Seeing faces for the first time, learning stories of who, why and what were just incredible. Learning that a great in the 1500s Germany was accused of witchcraft and tortured felt really personal. (She was allowed to go as her confession was obviously done by torture said the judge.)

But bringing these people to "life" as much as you can through genealogy honors them and teaches us more than we can realize.

Today we honor those before us and those with us now who have served to keep us safe and free.

MyHeritage has two days left to search your family members military history. I urge you to take the time through tomorrow to see what you can find. Some of those who served don't always talk about it. That doesn't mean we should not learn about them and how they served the US.

Discover your ancestry - search Birth, Marriage and Death certificates, census records, immigration lists and other records - all in one family search!

New blog post... genealogy family lore can really be stranger than fiction.

Genealogy family lore is quite often accepted truth that is actually fiction. Most everyone has a story they believe but records show false.
