Progress is built in every phase.

Coach Jesse is currently training while rehabbing from a shoulder fracture and full ankle joint replacement. Right now, the focus is simple: easy does it. Each session is designed to rebuild strength, restore function, and stay consistent.

As he puts it, light weight does not mean light work. Fully engaging the muscles helps reactivate the nervous system and retrain the body.

Consistency and intention drive the process

The DIAKADI Gallery is honored to present the work of Brigid Horgan, now featured on the second floor of our facility.

Meet Brigid Horgan:

“Born and raised in Texas, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Fine Arts with a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.F.A. in Visual Art Studies. I moved to California in 2001, and have been teaching art at a public school ever since. After 20 years of teaching, I went back to school part-time, and received a Masters in Art Education from Eastern Illinois University.

My approach to teaching art is discipline-based, incorporating art appreciation, art history, and art production into most of my curriculum, while also focusing on introducing students to art created by people from around our country and the world.

I am often asked what my favorite projects are that I do with kids. It’s generally what makes them excited, which are often choice projects, ceramics, printmaking, and perspective drawing. These projects seem to lend themselves to great moments of discovery and joy, whether it’s figuring out how to make a ceramic vessel not collapse in the moment, having that revelation of the print truly being backwards, or applying perspective skills to making something look 3D on a flat surface.

When I’m not being a teacher, I paint, try to keep up with my book club, and enjoy the beauty of nature as often as I can.”

Are you an artist or know one who’d love to be featured at DIAKADI? We’d love to see your work. Visit the LINK IN BIO to learn more.

Ask the Coach: “What is a common fitness/health myth that you find yourself frequently debunking?”

Tracy (): “A common misconception I address is that doing core exercises alone will shrink your waist. In reality, fat loss occurs throughout the body, not just in one specific area. Effective, lasting results come from a well-rounded program that includes full body strength training, increased daily activity levels, and healthy eating habits.”

AJ (): “One of the most persistent myths I encounter is the idea that you need to constantly rotate exercises or switch programs to keep your muscles ‘guessing.’ I like to compare training to learning a new language—if you switched from Spanish to Mandarin to French every few weeks, you'd never become fluent in any of them. Real progress comes from committing to the fundamentals, the squats, deadlifts, and presses that have stood the test of time, and building on them consistently. Chasing every new fitness trend is just starting a new language from scratch instead of getting fluent in the one that was already working.”

DIAKADI is proud to once again partner with Friends of SF Animal Care and Control to be a sponsor for their annual Paws For Cause Social Fundraiser on Saturday April 25th from 11a - 2pm.

This fundraiser helps to support animal welfare programs at SF Animal Care and Control.

Dog rescue is a huge part of who Mike and Billy are and they always want to do what they can to help support the care, shelter and welfare of the animals being taken care of at SF ACC.

DIAKADI will have an alcove set aside for our community if anyone wishes to attend. While Mike and Billy will be out of town that weekend, we do have 15 tickets to give away for anyone who wants to enjoy a family and dog friendly afternoon with other dog lovers!

(Well behaved social dogs only please).

If you are interested and would like to represent DIAKADI on this day, send an email to Mike@diakaidbody.com so that he can put you on our list.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

After 22 years of strength training excellence, cutting-edge programming, and helping thousands of clients build stronger bodies…

We’ve decided it’s time for a bold new direction.

Starting April 1, DIASAHDI will officially transition to a Zone 1 Cardio Only™ training facility.

That’s right.

No barbells.No kettlebells.No sled pushes.No heavy squats.

Just pure, slow, low-intensity movement. Because the newest research suggests the real secret to elite performance is moving… as gently as possible.

Our New Programming Includes

• 45-Minute Sensory Deprivation Treadmill Strolls (with a spotter)• Cycling Visualization (Seated on the bike, no pedaling)• 60 - 90min Foam Rolling Sessions• Downstairs Walking (we are reversing all of our stair climbers)• Virtual Reality Walking Clubs (from the comfort of a chair)

Please note: if your heart rate accidentally reaches Zone 2, your trainer will politely ask you to slow down immediately.

Our New Mission:
Helping San Francisco’s professionals achieve peak performance through maximum relaxation and minimal effort.

Because the only way to survive in this world is to move as slowly as possible.

Do it All. Slow As Hell Doing It. “DIASAHDI”

Proudly announcing this change on April 1st. A day often set aside for things that are not real. But this is most definitely real, right?

DIAKADI is excited to welcome our newest coach, Mya Elkins ()!

Meet Mya:

“Hi, I’m Mya Elkins. I grew up dreading the middle school mile, and now I run marathons. My personal fitness journey showed me how deeply it can change your life, both physically and mentally. Instead of continuing my masters in psychotherapy I found that helping people through movement can be even more valuable and life changing than therapy.

I’ve taken everything I’ve learned on my own and applied it to my training philosophy. I take a holistic approach; integrating strength, mobility, and cardio to build resilient, capable bodies that support your life in and out of the gym. Training with me is all about pushing past limits, building real confidence, and realizing you’re far more capable than you think.”

Ask the Coach: What is your favorite non-fitness hobby, and how does it help you maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Because life outside the gym matters too, our coaches share their favorite non-fitness hobbies.

Natalie (): “I LOVE thrift shopping, and it supports my healthy lifestyle in a few ways: 1) I like to dress sharp for my DIAKADI clients, so finding cheaper fitness gear is fun for my closet and my wallet. 2) It's better for the environment, so my shopping habit is actually "saving the planet" lol. 3) Thrifting is a MUST when I travel; It's how I find unique souvenirs that remind me of my trips.”

Ethan () : “Although non-fitness hobbies are a shortcoming in my personality, which may torment me as I age, I do enjoy brain tickling puzzles and games! Sudoku, Minesweeper, sports trivia, and board games with friends are my go-to's. This helps me avoid excessive Tik Tok and Instagram doom scrolling which is not good for anyone's wellbeing! Anything that can distract me from brain rot is a plus in my book!”

Proof that a healthy lifestyle goes way beyond the gym. What’s yours?
