5 EASY & HEALTHY BALANCED SNACKS to add to your rotation ⬇️✨

I like to meal prep 1-2 snacks to have on hand to keep me energized between meals throughout the week! My formula for building a balanced snack is carb + protein + healthy fat and I try to aim for at least 2/3 of these groups in each snack I make!

SO I’ve included five of my absolute FAVOURITE breakfast ideas for you to choose from:

1. Air fryer cottage cheese spinach dip
2. Chocolate peanut butter protein bars
3. Birthday cake protein balls
4. Chickpea veggie fritters
5. Granola bars with yogurt coating

You have to try these egg bars for busy mornings! They are perfect for meal prep & large batch cooking and have 23g of protein per bar to keep you going all morning long!!

All you need is:
- turkey sausages
- eggs
- cottage cheese
- all-purpose flour
- baking powder
- ground flaxseed
- Italian seasoning blend

GRANOLA YOGURT BARS 🍓✨

I love to make these bars at home over buying them at the grocery store!! My bars are made with simple ingredients, lower in sugar, are completely customizable, & they make for the perfect kid-approved snack!!

All you need is:
- honey
- peanut butter
- vanilla extract
- oats
- puffed rice cereal
- unsweetened shredded coconut
- salt
- cinnamon
- almonds
- freeze dried strawberries
- plain Greek yogurt
- light cream cheese
- powdered sugar
- milk
- melted white chocolate

This pasta is a lightened up version of the ICONIC dip and it’s packed with protein! It’s an easy one-pan meal, comes together in only 30 minutes, and makes for the perfect balanced weeknight dinner option!!

These slices are one of my favourite things to have in the freezer because they are SO VERSATILE!! You can use them for savoury or sweet toast in the morning, add them to a bowl or salad, or added as a side to any meal!

MEAL PREP IDEAS FOR THE WEEK ⬇️✨

As an RD, I know how helpful meal prepping can be to make eating healthier easier throughout the week BUT i get bored of eating the same thing everyday!

SO I’ve combined a number of recipes you can prep with some easy one-pan and air-fryer options to have the perfect balance during the week!

WHAT’S ON THE MENU...
BREAKFAST:
- Banana blueberry oatmeal muffins

LUNCH:
- Air fryer chicken fajitas (this is a versatile chicken & veggie mix that can be added to bowls, wraps and salads)!

DINNER:
- Cheesy spinach and artichoke pasta
- Healthy turkey feta meatballs
- Sticky orange tofu

Snack:
- Birthday cake protein balls

HI 👋🏻 Welcome to the Nourished by Nic community!! It’s been SO long since I did an intro so I figured now is a good time to get to know each other !

WHO is Nourished by Nic?
- My name is Nicole (some of my friends call me Nic for short) and I’m a registered dietitian, lover of food, photos and books!
- I’m Canadian!!! 🇨🇦 This is always something that seems to surprise you but I was born & raised just outside of Toronto (where I currently live)
- I’ve always been interested in nutrition and the effect of food on our bodies so I completed my undergraduate degree in nutrition (BASc) at the University of Guelph and went on to pursue my masters in Nutrition Communication (MHSc) at Toronto Metropolitan University before writing my CDRE to become a dietitian!
- During school I never felt drawn to the “typical” RD career settings but I have found such a love and passion in the area of media dietetics and am so lucky to be a full time content creator, food blogger and media RD!
- I LOVE travelling, exploring new countries, learning about new cultures and trying new food (Ive loved so many places I’ve travelled for so many reasons, but Greece is a country I’ll go back to 1000 times)
- I started my IG page as a hobby 6 years ago to post all the pictures of food I was already taking but NEVER would have believed it would grow into what it is today (600K of you across platforms 🤯!!)
- I’m a very true Gemini, an ISFJ personality and a HUGE peanut butter lover
- I have a blog where all my recipes live (and a weekly newsletter) so make sure you check it out!

After years of struggling with my own relationship with food I know nutrition can be CONFUSING and overwhelming. My mission through this page is to help uncomplicate healthy eating. Through easy, accessible recipes and nutrition tips I want to help you nourish both your body AND soul 💕

As a big ideas person I have BIG dreams for the future of Nourished by Nic (think cookbooks, ebooks, course, workshops, travel retreats??) and I am so happy you are part of this community 😌
