Earlier this week, Chancellor Kimberlee Johnson Messina attended an event introducing Loretta J. Ross’s book, Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You’d Rather Cancel. Thank you to Ross for sharing her perspective on fostering more constructive conversations, building understanding, and creating meaningful change through dialogue.

Nos llena de orgullo compartir que ¡no una, sino DOS personas de la familia de El/La Para TransLatinas han sido nominades como Grandes Mariscales de San Francisco Pride! 💖

✨ Sthefany Galante (La Bomba Latina) — Gerente de Programa y Outreach en El/La Para TransLatinas — es una activista trans binacional con más de 25 años organizando por su comunidad. Tras huir de la transfobia en México, fundó un grupo trans en Carolina del Norte y hoy acompaña y defiende a personas trans, intersex y de género diverso Latinx en San Francisco con fuerza, cuidado y orgullo cultural.

🎨 Marcel Pardo Ariza, integrante del Comité Asesor de El/La, es una persona trans migrante de Colombia y artista-activista que impulsa mayor visibilidad para personas q***r y trans de color. Han curado la retrospectiva de Juanita MORE! en la Comisión de Artes de San Francisco y produjeron un proyecto histórico con 33 líderes trans e intersex del Área de la Bahía, ahora parte de la colección permanente del San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. A través de la campaña HIRE TRANS FOLKS y su liderazgo con El/La, Marcel continúa luchando por la seguridad, el empleo y la dignidad de las personas trans migrantes.

We’re incredibly proud to share that not one, but TWO members of the El/La Para TransLatinas family have been nominated as Grand Marshals for San Francisco Pride ! 💖

✨ Sthefany Galante (La Bomba Latina) — Program & Outreach Manager at El/La Para TransLatinas — is a binational trans activist who has been organizing for more than 25 years. From founding a trans-led group in North Carolina after fleeing transphobia in Mexico, to now uplifting trans, intersex, and gender-diverse Latinx immigrants in San Francisco, Sthefany brings fierce advocacy, care, and cultural power to our community.

🎨 Marcel Pardo Ariza, an El/La Advisory Committee Member, is a proud trans migrant from Colombia and a visionary artist and activist uplifting q***r and trans people of color. Their work includes curating Juanita MORE!’s retrospective at the San Francisco Arts Commission and producing a trans history project featuring 33 Bay Area trans and intersex leaders, now in the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Through the HIRE TRANS FOLKS campaign and their leadership with El/La, Marcel continues to advocate for trans immigrants’ safety, employment, and dignity.

We are thrilled to honor Honey Mahogany with our Community Impact Award at the 2026 Show of Hope Gala!

Honey is a native San Franciscan and Director of the SF Office of Transgender Initiatives. She helped establish the Transgender District in the Tenderloin—the world's first legally recognized transgender cultural district—and served as its first director. She also helped save the beloved Stud Bar as co-owner, ensuring its legacy as a vital LGBTQ+ community space. Known nationally from RuPaul's Drag Race, Honey has spent her career championing dignity and opportunity for transgender residents across San Francisco.

Come celebrate her extraordinary impact on Friday, April 4th at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco.
