The holidays are meant to be enjoyed (food and all)!

Thanksgiving is next week and for those who celebrate, it often means indulging in food, sugar and larger potions than usual.

If you know you’re going to indulge a bit, there are things you can do now to help support your gut - because a healthy gut leads to a happier holiday season!

Support digestion with bitters: Eat bitter greens at the beginning of a meal or drink water with a couple dashes of bitters, or a splash of apple cider vinegar

Stock up on digestive enzymes to support you if you over-indulge: A couple capsules of digestive enzymes can help

Practice mindful, slow eating in the lead up to Thanksgiving so that you are in the habit of slowing down and enjoying each bite! This will help curb over-eating and blood sugar spikes.

Avoid your food intolerances: If you know you have a gluten or dairy intolerance, bring or make an alternative to share!

And remember that health isn’t about being “perfect” or strict with your diet 24/7. It’s about finding small ways to stay true to your health goals, and giving yourself grace on special ocassions.

Our client desired to be able to eat in restaurants again without gut flare-ups and we worked with them to help meet that goal: “I had to work hard to start eating out at restaurants again, but I’ve been mostly successful! It’s been very important to think about this in a positive, proactive way, since it’s a chronic condition that will be part of me for the rest of my life. There will be set-backs, but the biggest thing for me is how I handle them.“
