These two Qigong practices can help you stay warmer this winter, give them a try.
1. Standing Meditation
Also known as “zhàn zhuāng” (站桩), this move helps build vitality and generate internal warmth.
How-to:
Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart and knees softly bent. Lift your arms into a rounded shape, as if gently embracing the trunk of a tree. Lengthen through the spine and soften the shoulders. Hold for 1 minute, gradually working your way up to 20 minutes with regular practice.
It is common for beginners to experience muscle trembling; this indicates the body building strength and circulating Qi. Over time, this practice supports circulation, mental clarity, and deeper body awareness.
2. Lying Down Meditation
Perfect if you tend to feel cold at night, this posture helps conserve warmth and encourages the body to settle into rest.
How to:
Place two pillows along the outer sides of your knees. Lie down and bring the soles of your feet together in a diamond shape, allowing the knees to rest on the pillows. Place your hands on your belly, breathe deeply, and allow the body to relax into sleep.
This gentle position supports circulation through the lower body, calms the nervous system, and helps prevent Qi from dispersing, keeping you warmer as you rest.
Send to a friend who’s always a little cold or bookmark for later. Stay warm, friends ❤️
