We’re also proud to share that ATG San Francisco announced Sutter CPVS as their official vocal health and wellness partner on World Voice Day. We’re honored to support their performers and help keep their voices in peak condition.

Istanbul for PEVoC 16 🇹🇷✨

Grateful for the opportunity to speak on “What Is Possible? Managing Expectations in Vocal Feminization for the Singing Voice.” These conversations continue to evolve, and it’s a privilege to be part of a community pushing the field forward.

In between sessions—some unforgettable sightseeing, great meals, and even better company. Always appreciate time with colleagues in IATVS and meeting new friends from around the world.

Celebrating the season with an incredible team in . ✨

It’s hard to believe how quickly the past 8 months have gone by since we launched 's California Pacific Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and California Pacific Voice and Swallowing. In such a short time, we’ve grown tremendously — not just in size, but in collaboration, energy, and shared purpose.

I’m so thankful to work alongside such wonderful partners and dedicated staff. This team is truly something special, and I feel incredibly lucky to do this work with all of you.

Back from Marbella and still feeling so grateful.

I had the privilege of attending and speaking at the 4th Annual Meeting of the International Association of TransVoice Surgeons — an inspiring gathering of surgeons, speech-language pathologists, and voice experts from around the world.

Beyond the academic excellence, what made this meeting truly special was the warmth, friendship, and unmistakable Spanish hospitality we were welcomed with.  From heartfelt conversations to wonderful meals shared with colleagues, every moment reflected the passion and spirit of this community. Thank you to our exceptional host .j.c.casado and his team for creating a congress that was not only scientifically rich, but filled with joy, connection, and culture. I return energized, inspired, and deeply appreciative of the work we get to do together.

I had the best time in Seoul attending  back in November! I learned so much from the vast knowledge and experience shared by the group of international experts. It is inspiring to know that there are so many of us committed to shaping the future of gender affirming voice care despite the current uncertain political environment. My deepest appreciation to  and team hosting and organizing such an incredible meeting! Thank you for inviting me to speak. I loved Seoul so much I had to make a short trip this week for more food and fun!

👋 I'm Dr. Katherine Yung, a fellowship-trained laryngologist based in San Francisco. I grew up playing the violin, string bass, and singing in choirs. While I may not have the same level of talent as my speech pathology partners—Kristen Bond, Wynde Vastine, and Nic Valdez—I was honored to be part of the  .stanford and even received a small music scholarship to support my vocal studies (a little-known fact!).

When I discovered the field of laryngology, everything fell into place. My passion for music, singing, medicine, and surgery converged beautifully in this specialized area. I am continually amazed by the larynx, a small yet perfectly designed organ that controls our breathing, swallowing, voice, and significantly influences how we present ourselves to the world. I find great joy in engaging with patients and helping them regain their authentic voice, enjoy home-cooked meals, read aloud to their children, or perform on stage.

After nearly 10 years in academic medicine, I left UCSF in 2018 to establish San Francisco Voice & Swallowing, which gained national and international recognition as a center for gender-affirming voice care, professional voice, and managing other voice, swallowing, and airway disorders. I am proud of what we achieved at SFVS, and I am now excited to join Sutter Health as the Director of Laryngology. I look forward to what’s next!
