Proper dental hygiene care is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being. A Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) has completed additional education and licensure to deliver dental hygiene services outside of a traditional dental office. This allows for patients of all ages, who cannot visit a dental office due to limitations caused by their state of health, to receive dental hygiene treatment. 🪥

Services are performed at the convenience of the patient’s location. Anyone with barriers to seek treatment in a dental office caused by aging, being homebound, and/or having a disability can be seen by an RDHAP. Patients with complex physical, medical and/or psychological needs may seek on-site dental hygiene treatment. Services are also available to those living in underserved communities with dental office shortages. 🦷

RDHAPs can deliver dental hygiene services at the location of homebound individuals, schools, institutions, residence facilities, skilled nursing facilities, long term care, hospice, and even hospital settings. 🤍
