For a long time, I thought protecting my child meant stepping in.

Now I see that real support means stepping with them to help them understand, decide, and lead.

Supported Decision-Making lets me be part of their journey, without taking over their choices.

Meet a local family whose 5-year-old was facing speech delays. As Cantonese-speaking parents navigating the complexities of ASD, they didn't know where to turn.

Support for Families gave them direction. Through 1:1 support, they:
✨ Connected with speech therapy through their insurance
✨ Joined the PMP program for ongoing guidance
✨ Received IEP advocacy support

Your donation ensures more families get the expert guidance they need, in their own language, when they need it most.

Every child deserves a chance to find their voice.

12/20/2025

The team that supported my child through school looks a lot different now that they’re working and living more independently.

Supported Decision-Making gives them the freedom to choose new supporters, explore new goals, and keep growing. And it keeps their voice at the center all along the way.

When you help one family, you create a ripple effect that touches entire communities.

The mother we've been sharing about this week? She's not just accessing services now—she's becoming an advocate. She's participating in our parenting programs. She's teaching her sons to advocate for themselves.

Her boys aren't just surviving—they're joining baseball clinics, attending community events, and building connections with peers.

And Maria, the grandmother who once felt helpless? She's found peace knowing her family has the support they need.

THIS is the power of your donation. Not just services, but transformation. Not just support, but dignity. Not just today, but a foundation for the future.

We have just 13 days left in 2025. Will you help us close the year strong?

"I am so happy to be here at Support for Families. All of you in the agency are so warm and helpful. I feel I can come to you for support and feel less embarrassed because I cannot read and write."

These words, from a mother who once refused help because of shame, represent the transformation your donations create.

Today, her three sons are:

✨ Receiving appropriate educational supports
✨ Connected to therapy and mental health services
✨ Participating in our baseball clinic and youth programs
✨ Being raised by a mother who now understands and advocates for their needs

Grandmother Maria says simply: "I would not be able to do it without your support."

Neither would we. Will you help us reach more families before year's end?

The work is meticulous. The work is personal. The work changes lives.

When our Care Navigator Wendy began working with Maria's family, she:

đź“‹ Created a documentation system for three children's medical records
📞 Made appointments and explained each child's needs to providers
🎓 Coordinated with schools for updated IEPs with mental health support
đź’ł Designed an ID card with information mom couldn't remember
⏰ Helped secure increased support hours and SSI benefits

This kind of intensive, compassionate support takes TIME. It takes EXPERTISE. It takes FUNDING.

Your year-end gift makes this work possible.

Imagine trying to navigate healthcare, special education, therapy referrals, and government benefits—but you can't read the forms. You can't remember your phone number. You don't understand the terminology.

This was the reality for one mother we serve—caring for three children with autism while managing her own intellectual disability.

"She would get mad at me for wanting help," the grandmother, Maria, told us. "She thought I was judging her."

The system isn't built for families like this. But YOUR donations make sure no one navigates it alone.

Tomorrow: How we helped this family create a system that works.
