Chrysalis

Chrysalis Youth Programming / Educational Services / Community Hub / Forest Sanctuary We understand and honor our connection with all living beings. We love the Earth.

MISSION

At Chrysalis, we intend to develop a model sustainable
community that operates first and foremost as a sanctuary,
a place of retreat and refuge, specifically focused on the
needs of cultural creatives, families, and children. We envision
a non-profit project founded on the principals of holistic
educational and healing practices, environmental stewardship, permaculture, and political/social engagement. The needs of the seventh generation inform all our actions at
The Edge. It is our intention that this center will function as a
place for solace, refuge, and regeneration while providing a
thriving, luminous example of what it means to walk in beauty,
in harmonious relationship – with self, others, society, spirit,
and the Earth. VISION

We live in a time of unprecedented destruction, when all major
structures are being broken down and dissolved, and the planet
that sustains us is struggling and in desperate need of healing. Our children stand to inherit this mess we have created for them,
unless we begin to address these issues now, on their behalves. It will be their jobs to clean this up, no small task! It is our
intention at The Edge to create an “eye” - or peaceful center -
in the midst of this global storm now swirling all around us. We wish to reclaim our roots and our birthright in modeling a
new paradigm for living, based on ancient understandings about
the “web of life” and the interconnectedness of all life forms. Now is the time to band together again as tribe, to share
resources, and rebuild community in the truest sense of the word
– to re “commune” or connect, with each other and all things
living - and to model a more sustainable, loving, and peaceful
lifestyle for our young and the next generations to follow. Even the New Sciences are bringing us back around again to this
ancient understanding – that each individual being, and each
small action, has tremendous potential to affect the whole. We
wish to support our children, and each other, in moving into the revolutionary adventure of our times with the strongest network
of resources and wisdom humanly possible. We intend to do this by retraining our youth to: 1) be good earth
stewards; 2) look after each other as family; 3) activate fully
whatever they are most uniquely gifted to offer this collective
work; 4) heal whatever wounds they have inherited from their
individual lineages and the collective 5) respect and honor the
wisdom of their elders and the natural world with reverence and
gratitude. In this way we support these future generations in stepping all
the way into their light and lives as the Spiritual Warriors, Priests
and Priestesses needed to face the challenges of this time, and
to reestablish right relationship with the beautiful planet we are
bequeathing them. This is the underlying
sentiment that informs all facets of this project, ultimately - a
deep and abiding love of the Creation! As such, we wish to
reestablish and model a lifestyle for our children that properly
respects, honors and protects Gaia as precious and adored
Mother to us all. FOCAL POINTS

Roots and Wings: A Waldorf-Inspired Cooperative Playschool and
Nature Immersion Program

One project of Chrysalis is the establishment of a Waldorf-
Inspired cooperative playschool and nature immersion program
in which young children and their families will come together,
under the guidance of a fully-trained Master Waldorf Teacher, in
establishing an educational and social environment designed to
honor the unique flowering of each individual child. This project
is Waldorf-Inspired in that it fosters the innate creative, spiritual,
physical and intellectual capacities in young children. Roots and
Wings acknowledges the unique intelligences of each child and
seeks to foster these in an environment rich with imagination
and direct contact with Nature and her cycles. At this age, the young child is still innocent, in awe, and fresh
from Source. We’d like to preserve and encourage this wide-
eyed-wonder-time as long a possible! So we searched far and
wide for the perfect land to gently cradle the dreamy imaginal
realm of early childhood – and finally found it at The Edge:
with three distinct eco-systems onsite; large food garden and
mature orchard to cultivate and sample from; a big boulder to
climb on; woods to explore; a tipi to play in; wooden stage to
perform on; majestic redwood trees, including a fairy ring, to
commune with; and free-flowing water in abundance - creek
with waterfall and swimming hole, natural springs, and a even
koi pond, with frogs! The Sanctuary: A Refuge for Today’s Youth

We will establish after school programs and summer camps
that bring in the talents of others within the community and
gift these back as services, workshops, classes, and coming-
of-age programs for local tweens and teenagers. In addition,
as our project expands, we intend to bring in at-risk-youth
from the inner cities and offer sweats, vision quests, trust-
building workshops, and other initiatory experiences to them
as well. We wish to cross-fertilize with this population directly
by seeding community garden projects and other outreach
services that support them where they live. It is our intention
that this outreach work will support our valley children in
their own initiations into adulthood, while simultaneously
gifting them with an appreciation for diversity (both socio-
economic and ethnic), an understanding for the value of
community service and hard work (seva), and a much-
needed sense of gratitude for their/our own privilege in
society and in the world. The Temple

As an offering for our community, we intend to build a
beautiful, dome-shaped temple on our land. The Temple will
be a large open space, sculpted out of earth, with central
skylight, and with simple altars built in to honor the four
directions. This temple will be created by the people for the
people; and will provide a place for the community to gather –
so that we might pray, work, heal, celebrate, laugh, dream,
soak and play together – all while communing with the
abundant natural beauty of this sacred, and precious land!

No AI here, just sand carved and stones placed. Stones gathered from behind the camera.

Carved Void, 2025

Created at Lindsway Bay

Really enjoy the carving process, its just so time consuming to try and do both sand and stones. I'd love to scale this style up much more. This style of flowing lines is something that's been developing through my style over the last few years, I don't think its going anywhere just yet! Its particularly obvious in my sand drawing work and one of many features I like to come back to. I love recurring themes.

“A woman may crave to be near water, or be belly down, her face in the earth, smelling the wild smell.

She might have to drive into the wind.

She may have to plant something, pull things out of the ground or put them into the ground.

She may have to knead and bake, rapt in dough up to her elbows.

She may have to trek into the hills, leaping from rock to rock trying out her voice against the mountain.

She may need hours of starry nights where the stars are like face powder spilled on a black marble floor.

She may feel she will die if she doesn’t dance naked in a thunderstorm, sit in perfect silence, return home ink-stained, paint-stained, tear-stained, moon-stained.”

Deep down we know it’s true. This isn’t just about cell towers, or vaccines, or Epstein, or Roundup or greedy corporations or bad science. We have pulled ourselves so far from the rhythms of the Earth that we’ve forgotten we ARE the Earth.

But here’s what I know. We’re not helpless. Not even close. The moment we remember that we’re made of sunlight and soil and sound and cycles, we start to turn the tide. We don’t have to burn it all down to fight back. We start by coming home to our body. To the Earth. To the ancient ways that never needed a charger or a software update.

Start your mornings outside. Get your bare feet on the ground even if it's just for five minutes. Let the sunlight hit your naked eyes before you ever look at a screen. That morning light is medicine. It tells your body it's safe. It sets your hormones right. It feeds your mitochondria and clears your head.

Want to know how we can can get our lives back?

Turn off your Wi-Fi at night. Unplug the smart junk. You don't need your fridge talking to the internet. You don’t need Bluetooth in your pillow. You need quiet. You need dark. You need stillness when you sleep. That’s when your body does its holy repair work. Let it. Give it the chance.

Eat real food. Wild if you can. Simple. Unprocessed. Foods that don’t come with labels or barcodes. That aren't grown with glyphosate and haven't been tampered with, genetically. Drink clean water, not the stuff in plastic bottles, or coming from your tap. Get a filter if you need to. You are water, and your water is killing you, numbing you, making you sick.

Throw away your Tide. Your Crest. The air fresheners. The fabric softeners. The chemical soaps, shampoos, lotions, cleaners. They are toxic. They poison your body every single day. Your skin is your largest organ. It drinks in whatever you put on it. If it’s poison, and most of it is, it’s poisoning you.

Fast sometimes. It gives your system the rest it’s been begging for. Let the body burn through the gunk they’ve piled on us... and that we have willingly consumed. Fasting is how we empty out what doesn’t belong and make space for light to come in.

Build your house like a sanctuary. Use wood and stone and cotton and plants. Bring back incandescent bulbs. And candles. Wrap yourself in the things that breathe, like wool, silk, linen, and h**p, and that don’t buzz and disrupt your electromagnetic field, like nylon, rayon, polyester and the other plastics do.

Play music. In 432. Sing. Out of tune is fine. Hum. It resets your vagal nerve and calms you down.

Dance barefoot on the kitchen floor... Or better yet, barefoot in the grass!

These are not silly things. They’re how we recalibrate the field. Your field. The collective field.

Talk to your neighbors. Teach your kids. Share what you know with gentleness, not fear. The fear isn't ours. We lose sovereignty when we are divided and panicked. But when we speak with love and clarity and calm, it cuts through the fog like a tuning fork. Be that tuning fork.

And don’t forget to laugh and cry and pray and rest. And look around and be grateful for all of the things you've taken for granted. All of it heals. All of it builds your frequency. When you’re in coherence, your body becomes a signal that cant be jammed. Your cells remember how to sing. It's biology, man! It's physics! That’s REAL power.

Yeah. The game seems rigged. But we don’t have to play. We make our own game now. One rooted in Earth, the earth's food, light, breath, rhythm, love, and truth.

And the best part? It’s already inside us! It's already around us. Our mother earth is waiting with open arms, ready to support us, to provide for us. She is yearning to connect. She welcomes the prodigal son home.

Let’s walk it together, barefoot and fierce. Let's plant gardens and share our harvest. Its time for you, for me, to remember our power. It's time to step into our roles as creators. It's time for us to turn on our light. As I learned by living in the south for a lot of years, when I flipped the on shed light, the roaches would scatter! Darkness has no safety in light.

We came here for this time, beautiful souls.

Stand up.

Unite.

And, most of all...

Turn on your light and

LOVE!

Welcome to OUR New Earth! It's ours to create!

“Heal yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon. With the sound of the river and the waterfall. With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds. Heal yourself with mint, neem, and eucalyptus. Sweeten with lavender, rosemary, and chamomile. Hug yourself with the cocoa bean and a hint of cinnamon. Put love in tea instead of sugar and drink it looking at the stars. Heal yourself with the kisses that the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain. Stand strong with your bare feet on the ground and with everything that comes from it. Be smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with your forehead. Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier. Heal yourself, with beautiful love, and always remember...you are the medicine.”

After the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, scientists discovered a unique group of black fungi—such as Cladosporium sphaerospermum and Cryptococcus neoformans—growing on the reactor walls.

Unlike typical fungi, these organisms didn’t just survive the high radiation; they appeared to thrive in it.

These so-called radiotrophic fungi contain high levels of melanin, the pigment also found in human skin.

Researchers observed that this melanin doesn’t merely protect the fungi from radiation—it actively absorbs ionizing radiation like gamma rays and potentially converts it into usable energy, a process similar to how plants perform photosynthesis but using radiation instead of sunlight.

This process is called radiosynthesis.

Experiments, including those conducted aboard the International Space Station in 2018–2019, confirmed that melanized fungi could reduce radiation exposure and even grow better in radioactive environments than in normal ones.

In one test, a 1.7 mm thick layer of fungus blocked over 2% of cosmic radiation. Scientists estimate that thicker layers could serve as biological radiation shields in space exploration, especially for missions to Mars.

The discovery of these fungi has sparked significant interest in using them for radiation cleanup (bioremediation), space travel protection, and further understanding how life can adapt to extreme conditions.

Their ability to turn a harmful energy source into nourishment is one of the most extraordinary survival adaptations seen in nature.
