Fatal Traffic Collision
Reporting Supervisor: Sergeant Patrick Lynch
File # I253620010
Details:
On Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 1:24 a.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Old Mountain Avenue, San Jacinto, regarding an unresponsive subject in the roadway. Deputies arrived and located an adult male in the intersection and performed lifesaving measures, but the male was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. An unoccupied vehicle was located approximately 200’ away with major collision damage.

The San Jacinto Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation determined the vehicle was northbound on Mountain Avenue at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on the other side of the roadway. No other vehicles were involved, and the investigation remains ongoing. No further information will be released.

The collision investigation required the temporary closure of Mountain Avenue between 7th Street and Esplanade Avenue. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact Community Service Officer Layvas at the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station at 951-654-2702 or Riverside County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099

The Riverside County Coroner's Office has identified a woman who died Friday, Dec. 26, after being struck by a vehicle on eastbound Interstate 10 in Indio. The California Highway Patrol says she apparently jumped from a bridge over the freeway.

Denise Madril, 55, of Los Angeles died at the scene near Golf Center Parkway.

The incident was reported at around 4:33 p.m. and led to an hours-long closure of two eastbound lanes during the investigation. It was initially unclear whether she fell or jumped, but CHP spokesperson David Torres later confirmed that a preliminary investigation determined Madril jumped from the bridge.
