DID YOU KNOW? Your eyelid has tiny glands (meibomian glands) to produce oil that coat the surface of the eye, keeping them hydrated? When these glands become blocked, you may experience dry eyes, fluctuation of vision, discomfort, and watery eyes, leading to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). Early intervention is key to preserve these glands, thereby lowering the chances of dry eyes and alleviating dry eye symptoms.
Our office has state of the art technology to treat dry eyes and MGD. Heating probes first target and heat the glands to soften and liquify the stagnant oils in the glands. Then the doctor will manually express the oil out of the glands, which will allow the oil to once again cover and protect the outer surface of the eye and thereby reduce dry eye symptoms.
