From January 19 through January 23, No Name-Calling Week highlights the ongoing issue with verbal bullying, specifically name-calling in (and beyond) educational settings. For q***r and trans youth experiencing bullying, please talk to a safe adult you trust to find a way to take action. If you need the Youth Space to advocate for you, let us know! You deserve to feel safe at school.

This October, please join us in celebrating the Filipinx American community and their important historical and cultural contributions! 🇵🇭💙

Swipe + read below to learn more about the history of Filipinx in America ↓

Trinity Ordoña: Activist, community organizer, and forebear of the AAPI le***an movement

Larry Itliong: Labor organizer and civil rights activist who founded the United Farm Workers alongside Cesar Chavez (right)

Third World Liberation Front: In 1968, the Philippine American Collegiate Endeavor (PACE), a Filipinx American student organization at SFSU, joined forces with the Black Student Union (BSU), the Mexican American Student Confederation (MASC), the Latin American Student Organization (LASO), the Intercollegiate Chinese for Social Action (ICSA), and the Asian American Political Alliance to form the Third World Liberation Front. This coalition fought for ethnic studies in higher education and conducted the longest student strike in U.S. history. This resulted in the creation of the first College of Ethnic Studies as well as expanded college access for people of color.

Let’s celebrate the achievements of Filipinx this month and continue to support their endeavors! 🫶🏽
