Have you ever gotten a high blood pressure reading at home but a normal one at the doctor?
You’re not alone. Most inaccurate blood pressure readings come down to two simple mistakes:
• Wrong cuff size
• Incorrect cuff placement
A cuff that’s too small can overestimate your blood pressure by up to 20 mmHg.
A cuff that’s too loose or too tight can change results in minutes.
The fix is simple:
✔ Measure your arm at the midpoint to choose the right cuff size
✔ Place the cuff two fingers above the elbow
✔ Make sure exactly two fingers fit under the cuff
