It’s almost Valentine’s Day, so let’s focus on some ❤️ opening stretches!
These are great for tight upper backs & rounded shoulders. If you’re someone who spends the day sitting at a desk, this one’s for you!
1. Doorway stretch
- Maintain shoulder at 90 degrees, and slowly push your body into the wall
- Being in a lunge position helps deepen the stretch
2. Wall Angels
- Your back, glutes, arms, and hands should maintain contact with the wall at all times
- Start with a W position and slowly slide up into a Y
- TIP: If you find this difficult, your chest and shoulders are tight! So feel free to perform this on the floor instead, and then progress to the wall when ready
3. Foam roller stretches
- Horizontal foam roller: roll up and down your back while slowly arching your back into the roller, for an active stretch
- Vertical foam roller: lay with your whole spine supported on the roller, and let your arms hang for a nice passive stretch
