Happy New Year!

It's been a great year for learning on the SuperPsyched podcast. To finish 2025, I thought I'd share a bit about a thing we all want more of: luck.

Science tells us luck doesn't happen passively any more than chance. But we can increase our luck through action. On this short, 12-minute episode, I review some of the ways you can stack the cards in favor of a luckier 2026.

Ever notice how easy it can be to fall in love, yet how difficult it can be to maintain and sustain it?

How do we keep the love we want without getting in our own ways?

I had the pleasure of speaking to a seasoned couple therapist and my own teacher in a class called Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), Allison Howe. This outstanding approach was created by three-time SuperPsyched guest, Dr. Stan Tatkin. And in this very rich and user-friendly episode, you’ll learn from an expert ways to maintain and sustain love! Listen here, or anywhere you find podcasts: https://lnkd.in/gsmNa2zy

Disruption appears to be ubiquitous these days.

On the latest episode of the SuperPsyched Podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dartmouth University Tuck School of Business professor Scott D. Anthony. Thinkers50 named Scott one of the world’s most influential thinkers, and he is the author of a book whose subject relates to sometihng I often hear about in my office: Epic Disruptions: 11 Innovations That Shaped Our Modern World. The book has been praised by journals and luminaries including SuperPsyched guest Amy Edmondson from Harvard Business School.

Scott and I had a thoughtful conversation on this crucial topic and you can listen to it here or anywhere you listen to podcasts:

This is a beaitiful article on my great uncle Dr. Leon Goldensohn, who served as the US Army’s Chief Psychiatrist in Nuremberg, where he assessed N**i criminals (like Hermann Goering) who were on trial after WW2. The new movie, Nuremberg,(starring Rami Malik who portrays Douglas Kelley, the original psychiatrist who Leon replaced) appears to have identified the chief psychiatrist in an incomplete manner: it failed to acknowledge Dr. Leon Goldensohn and the massive job he undertook. This article sets the record straight.

The movie stars Rami Malek as the psychiatrist Douglas Kelley — but what about Leon Goldensohn, the psychiatrist who replaced Kelley?

Our brains are the most complex structures in the known universe. Yet we’ve only had one version of brain for at least 35,000 years.

And yet, our surroundings have dramatically changed over the last 35,000 years. What that means to us today is the functions that have helped us survive historically may not help us thrive today. As a result, our brains have many bugs that influence our decisions like cognitive biases that need to be checked in order for us to thrive.

In this short solo SuperPsyched podcast episode, I review some of the bugs our brains possess and offer actionable ideas of what to do to bring us beyond surviving and toward thriving.

Evidentially, this is what I look like at the end of a two-day virtual weekend workshop! My wife took this photo at hour 5.5 of studying Stan Tatkin’s Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT).

Stan has been on my SuperPsyched Podcast three times and his contribution to the field of couples psychotherapy has been massive. Finally, I entered Level 1 study of his system with a large international cohort on various timezones. Level 1 alone is a 40 hour training (with lots of very compelling homework) aimed at assisting couples in one of the most sophisticated and helpful systems I’ve ever studied.

I’m stoked to help the couples I see with the strategies I’m learning!

Also, Eda Arduman and Allison Howe have been brilliant instructors. And I was further assisted by my cat and caffeine!

I’m not much of a collector of things... but I do collect quotes! Over the years, I've found that a great idea in the form of a memorable quote can change how I think and act for the better.

In this short, 15-minute solo episode, I share five good ones! The come from people as diverse as British psychoanalyst Donald Winnecott to Zach Gottlieb. All are mentioned in my book about human connection and I get into what they have meant to me and I believe you'll find them useful!

Talking with my guest, Jed Goldstein, about his side hustle was incredibly fun and informative.

And, at times, hilarious.

Jed was licensed attorney. He now works by day as a highly successful legal recruiter. But by night, he trades in his briefcase for a guitar, performing with one of the top Grateful Dead tribute bands.

Listen in to this special SuperPsyched episode to hear how Jed’s side hustle has enhanced every aspect of his life — and how it might inspire you to start one of your own.
