Saw this post from the Natasha Price Still blown away by the lack of accessibility for people with disabilities all over the World, but Apple West is proud to be a partner, an ally and an advocate.
As disabled people, we often have a vent to those closest to us, then deal with the consequences and move on šÆ
But we just shouldnt have to TIME AND TIME AGAIN š©
The reason Iāve spoken out so loudly on this is because Iāve had enough.
Not enough for myself, although my life is made difficult by these actionsā¦
Enough for the people who simply donāt have the means to adapt to terrible environmental obstacles put in their way.
Iām lucky, Iām strong enough to be able to lift and manoeuvre my body but many simply canāt and itās just not good enough š¤
So today I am motivated for change.
If you want to see a change in the world, go out and do something about it šš½
So, after much reflection on yet another situation where disability access has been forgotten about, not considered, and treated as insignificant, Iāve made the decision to take an idea for change to the top š
A lack of awareness or consideration is just not a good enough excuse.
The only way these incidents will be less likely to happen, is if they are taken seriously at a federal level, so every disabled person in Australia knows that their accessibility is protected š¤
If accessibility is removed, even just temporarily, it MUST be replaced with the same or better level of accessibility, not just cast aside and ignored.
Especially if the needs of the non-disabled public have been taken into account.
This protection should be afforded to all with disabilities that rely on access to continue going about their lives.
What is the point in having a national system like the , to offer unprecedented supports to disabled people, that is supposed to help us lead a life of self determination, if we canāt do that the moment we leave our homes?
Surely thatās just common sense?
If you want to make tangible change, you have to make a huge impact š„
So watch this space.
Australians with disabilities deserve better, so thank you for sparking this determination in me with your actions⦠or lack of them.
