While COVID cases are increasing again in our communities, our La Clínica de La Raza Fuente medical team continues to work with Reach Ashland to provide COVID vaccinations to our community members. This is critically important to stop the spread of this pandemic. Please get vaccinated and encourage others to do so.

Introducing ✨Arielle✨ a powerhouse Nurse Practitioner at Youth Heart Health Center!

🙋 Here’s what we asked her for S*x Ed Week: What should people with va**nas know about hygiene and what to look out for when something seems off? When should they get checked?

📣 Check out her answer: Vaginas are amazing and clean themselves!! You can splash some water on the outer part (the v***a) if you want but that's all you need to do for cleanliness. Using soap or other products on the inside of your v***a can lead to yeast infections. People are told it's bad if va**nas don't smell like flowers or rain, but a va**na should smell like a va**na! The best way to know when to get checked is to know what normal for body and be aware of any changes. It's also important to know that the smell of your va**na can change as you move through your menstrual cycle, if you're not on hormonal birth control. And so can your discharge (the liquidy stuff that comes out of your va**na): it can range in color from clear to white/whitish-yellow and from thin to thick like egg whites. You know your body the best so come in if things seem off to you! Changes we especially want to check out include discharge that is green or yellow, va**nal odor that is fishy or unpleasant/very different than normal, new bumps/skin changes, or any kind of pain/discomfort. Those could all be signs of infections or other issues.

You rock Arielle! Don’t forget to check back each day this week to meet more of our staff and to learn more answers to important sexual health questions!

Meet ✨Patricia✨ the amazing Admin Assistant for all our school-based health centers!

🙋 Here’s what we asked her for S*x Ed Week: What sexual health related services are offered at our clinics and what should a teen know about how to get these services?

🎤Here’s what she said: At SBHCs, we offer the following confidential sexual/reproductive health services: birth control counseling and access, pregnancy testing and options counseling, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, emergency contraception (like Plan B ), PEP/PrEP, support for survivors of sexual violence, and gender affirming care or a place to talk about questions you might have about gender and sexuality. We can also refer patients to services addressing abortion and pre-natal care. These services are available at no cost to you and are confidential: all the information you share will be kept private and you don't need parent/guardian permission! Doesn't matter if you have insurance or documentation status in the US! To schedule an appointment or ask any questions, call us at 510-481-4566 or fill out the self-referral form in the link in our bio.

Thank you Patricia! Don’t forget to check back each day this week to meet more of our staff and to learn more answers to important sexual health questions!
