We are deeply appreciative of The Foundation at Hearst Castle and Hearst Ranch Winery for their generous support of French Hospital’s Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC). Their collaboration on the Academy of Country Music’s Wine & Country event at Hearst Castle last fall benefited several nonprofits and raised over $82,000 for the HCRC. We extend our gratitude to Jim Saunders (pictured center) and Steve Hearst (not pictured) for including the HCRC as a beneficiary of the event. Funding will support no-cost HCRC programs and services to local cancer patients and their families.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Atascadero Police Foundation (APF) and The Human Bean for their recent fundraising efforts. APF’s “Pink Patch Project” raised over $1,500 for French Hospital's Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC). The Atascadero Police Department rallied community support by selling pink patches and pins, which officers also wore during October to honor and remember those battling cancer. French Hospital’s HCRC offers more than 32 programs and services—at no cost—to local cancer patients and their families. 🩷

French Hospital Medical Center has a long and rich history. We have served San Luis Obispo County for nearly 70 years and is a leader in providing top quality care, regardless of ability to pay. As a member of Dignity Health, our mission is to provide quality services delivered in a compassionate and cost-effective manner, to serve and advocate for the poor and disenfranchised, and to partner with others in the community to improve quality of life.
In 1946, Dr. Edison French, a local physician, purchased the San Luis Sanitarium on Marsh Street in San Luis Obispo, renaming it "French Hospital." There he began to practice state-of-the art medicine. In 1972, French Hospital moved to our current, larger location on Johnson Avenue. Since joining Dignity Health in 2004, French Hospital has made a rapid resurgence as a nationally recognized hospital, being named one of the Nation’s 100 Top Hospitals three times in recent years by Truven Health Analytics.
Today, French Hospital is San Luis Obispo's only not-for-profit hospital, focused on providing high quality, compassionate health care, right here on the Central Coast.
French Hospital Medical Center Foundation supports the work of the hospital by partnering with the community to provide for new facilities and equipment, new programs and services, health education and community outreach, and charity care. As a not-for-profit hospital, French Hospital relies on private support and contributions to meet the changing health care needs of our community.
