🗣️Quote of the Day
Taylor Swift is famous for treating her fans like friends. Years ago, when the superstar was just starting out, she would invite concertgoers backstage for “T Parties,” where they would meet her family & hang out. She has also been known to visit Swifties in the hospital, attend wedding showers, & even include them in her music videos. Though her fan base now numbers in the millions, she still engages frequently on social media & continues her post-show meet-and-greets. The genuine kindness she shows her fans proves just how high a premium she puts on being good to others.

🗣️Quote of the Day
Known for her groundbreaking works on the topic of intersectional feminism, writer & social activist bell hooks wrote honestly & elegantly about the challenges Black women face in society. She points out here that often, marginalized people who have achieved success, fame, & influence are targeted by those who fear the change that comes from empowerment. “Not because they don’t see [your power],” she said, “but because they see it and they don’t want it to exist.”

🗣️Quote of the Day
Few writers were more influential during the 19th century than Thomas Carlyle; the Scotsman’s essays, histories, & other works had a profound effect on Victorian literature & beyond. In 1855, four years after Carlyle’s death, Mary Ann Evans, better known by her pen name George Eliot, wrote that “there has hardly been an English book written for the last ten or twelve years that would not have been different if Carlyle had not lived.” Charles Darwin, meanwhile, called Carlyle “the most worth listening to, of any man I know.” The sheer scope of Carlyle’s literary endeavors — including his three-volume “French Revolution” & his epic six-volume “History of Frederick the Great” — may well have appeared impossible to lesser writers. Carlyle’s love of literature, however, seemingly made no task too great, as he once called the art of writing “the most miraculous of all things man has devised.”

🎓EEEKKKK - we are beyond proud! Daniel's first college letter has arrived and...he has been accepted to UCSC (University of California, Santa Cruz) with a major of neuroscience to prep him for medical school. One college down, 7 more letters to go! 🤞His top choice, UC Berkeley, doesn't arrive til late March.

P.S. his application was referred to schools he did not apply to & he has been accepted into 2 of those so far as well!
