Gerwig (who began her career as an actor) is the visionary director & writer behind acclaimed films such as 2019’s "Little Women," 2012’s "Frances Ha," & 2017’s "Lady Bird," in which this quote appears. While many of her films have been nominated for awards, it is their immeasurable societal impact that proves more rewarding. In his well-known book “Beyond Good and Evil,” in which the above quote appears, German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche explored the idea of morality in a changing society.
