Today we remember and honor the life and legacy of Eddie Lane. His legacy and profound contributions to the Athletic Training profession will not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were impacted by his life.

We are saddened to share the passing of NATA charter member and NATA Hall of Fame Class of 1976 member Eddie Lane.

A pioneer of the profession, Eddie shaped athletic training through more than seven decades of service, leadership and mentorship.

NATA President A.J. Duffy III, MS, ATC, PT, said, “I feel very fortunate to have met Eddie Lane last year at SWATA. He was a pillar of our association from the very beginning. As a charter member, his vision, service and unwavering belief in athletic training helped define the profession we know today.”

Eddie’s contributions included early leadership within SWATA, service as District 6 director, trailblazing work in professional tennis, and a lifelong commitment to supporting students and advancing opportunity across the profession.

In lieu of flowers, the Lane family invites those wishing to honor Eddie’s legacy to consider a gift to the Eddie Lane Legacy Scholarship:
