Texas Fire Academy (TFA) is an innovative, Texas Commission of Fire Protection certified academy for advanced fire courses such as: Driver Operator Pumper, Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner, Fire Investigator, Intro to Advanced Fire/Arson, Incident Command

er, and Fire & Life Safety Educator. In addition, we offer excellent Emergency Medical Technician courses - up to 7 a year. This is meets TDSHS curriculum requirements. They are available in two different formats: a night class and a weekend class - with all formats having an online classroom for course work, and two days a week that are in person for hands on skills learning. The South Hays Fire Department, Inc. founded Texas Fire Academy in 2005 by creating a consortium of fire service and EMT instructors from departments throughout Central Texas. Each instructor brings unique experiences. From large cities to small rural towns, this educational experience represents the Texas fire service and EMT communities.

Over the past 18 weeks, you’ve put in 140 hours of classroom instruction and 72 hours of field internship—time that demanded focus, discipline, and determination. You’ve met that challenge with hard work and dedication every step of the way.
This program is not easy, and earning your place here today speaks to your commitment to serving others. You’ve built the foundation of skills, knowledge, and teamwork that will carry you through your careers in EMS.

Kicking off the weekend the right way 🔥
Started with a preconference course: “The Poor Man’s Guide to Moulage”—and it did not disappoint. Huge shoutout to TFA and Somerset EMS Academy for teaming up to create some incredibly realistic injuries and scenarios.
Nothing beats getting hands-on, swapping ideas, and connecting with passionate instructors who are all about pushing EMS education forward.
