Texas Fire Academy (TFA) is an innovative, Texas Commission of Fire Protection certified academy for advanced fire courses such as: Driver Operator Pumper, Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner, Fire Investigator, Intro to Advanced Fire/Arson, Incident Commander, and Fire & Life Safety Educator. In addition, we offer excellent Emergency Medical Technician courses - up to 7 a year. This is meets TDSHS curriculum requirements. They are available in two different formats: a night class and a weekend class - with all formats having an online classroom for course work, and two days a week that are in person for hands on skills learning. The South Hays Fire Department, Inc. founded Texas Fire Academy in 2005 by creating a consortium of fire service and EMT instructors from departments throughout Central Texas. Each instructor brings unique experiences. From large cities to small rural towns, this educational experience represents the Texas fire service and EMT communities.

🚑🩸 EMT Class 261 — Stop The Bleed Certified
Today our students took on one of the most critical lifesaving skills in emergency medicine — controlling life-threatening bleeding.

The focus of the day was accuracy, patient assessment, and SPEED — because when severe bleeding happens, seconds matter. From proper tourniquet application to wound packing and rapid intervention, these future EMTs stepped up and performed under pressure.

We’re proud of the confidence, teamwork, and determination shown today. Skills like these don’t just save patients… they save lives before the ambulance even leaves the scene.
Class 261 keeps raising the bar. 💪

🚑🔥 Texas Fire Academy – EMT Class 261 🔥🚑
Strong start for our Spring EMT Class! 💪📚
Class 261 conquered their first exam with an outstanding 93% class average — setting the tone for what’s to come.
Over the past three classes, students have been dialing in basic vital signs, building the foundation every great EMT needs. As we transition into Anatomy & Physiology, the focus shifts deeper into understanding the why behind patient care.
The work ethic, consistency, and determination we’re seeing already tells us this class is going places. Big things ahead for this Spring cohort — stay locked in. 🚀👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

Texas Fire Academy EMT Class 261 is officially kicking off with their Jurisprudence Exam. This class consists of 34 dedicated individuals working toward earning their EMT course completion through our academy.
Over the next 16 weeks, they will be challenged both academically and practically—but more importantly, they will be tested on commitment, discipline, and sacrifice. Not everyone starts this journey willing to give what it truly takes. Those who do will earn the right to call themselves excellent EMS providers.
