10 minutes of terror. Brothers, age 7 and 10, perform CPR to save grandmother in cardiac arrest.

“I honestly didn’t think they’d ever need it, or that it was necessarily an important thing to teach them at the ages of 7 and 10.” says mom.

Patti Chatterson said she knows that she’s lucky to be alive.

“Cardiac arrest is a complete heart stop. Everything shuts right down, there’s nothing working,” she said.

“Not too many people recover from cardiac arrest. They just don’t if they’re not witnessed.”

After being saved by her two grandsons. “It was so scary. I didn’t want to let our grandma die,” said Grayson. “We just acted,” said Kian.

Allow our team to teach your family CPR. Everyone deserves to know how to save a life.

Time to learn tips as to better serve your family. We commend you on the phenomenal job of loving your grandchildren and spoiling them for life. For taking the load off of our shoulders and being available when we all need you. Beat The Rhythm Family.

Tip #1: Make a list of contact information.

Have parents’ contact information handy so you don’t have to search for it, this includes hotel travel, , dentist offices, and other parents of your 's friends.

Tip #2:

This letter should say that you are responsible for your grandchildren for a specified period of time. It should also give you permission to seek medical and dental care for them and to deal with all school-related issues. A parent should sign and date the letter. Keep this letter handy in case a doctor or teacher wants to see it.

Tip #3: Prepare for medical emergencies.

Be sure to have a copy of the child’s health insurance cards, a list of prescription drugs the child may be taking, or a list of allergies the children have. You should also be aware of any illnesses the child has, and know where a well-stocked first aid kit is located.

Tip #4: Take a CPR/AED class

The ability to stay calm in an emergency situation can sometimes be a matter of life and death. Receiving training in lifesaving techniques and CPR certification can provide grandparents with the ability to save their grandchild's life, should the need arise.

Because pediatric cardiac arrest is commonly the result of progressive respiratory failure, oxygenation and ventilation are needed. The lone rescuer should give 5 cycles (about 2 minutes) of CPR before leaving the child to activate EMS (phone 911).

During a game of tag, 4-year-old Vera Posy collapsed. Dad Matt Uber found her and immediately started chest compressions and breaths until help arrived. He had no formal training — he remembered how to perform CPR from an episode of “The Office." His quick actions helped save Vera’s life.

“When I was trying to think about what do I know about CPR, (my mind literally went) to that episode of ‘The Office,’ where they are doing CPR training and doing the compressions to the beat of ‘Stayin’ Alive,’” Uber, 46, of Carmel, Indiana. “It’s just what kicks in, what’s in your head, and that’s fortunate.”

Could you imagine doing this with confidence?
