Two Bay Area parents have created a global organization that is raising funds to research a genetic disorder that robs children of their sight and hearing.

Can’t read or hear this too many times! Most of the children I see who are not crawling also did not spend much time on their stomachs from the start. Lack of development in prone leads to a wide variety of motor deficits in anyone who does not have a well developed sensory motor system. Please put your babies on their stomachs… it doesn’t need to be on the floor it could be on your chest, over your leg, over the arm of a chair, carrying them stomach down. It really makes a difference.😊

Why babies who skip the crawling phase could have learning challenges as they grow older. How to get them crawling and tummy time.

Thank you Mindy Silva for sharing this information on WBV.

There's been a lot of talk recently about the benefits of Whole Body Vibration (WBV) for children with Cerebral Palsy. This RCT with 34 children aged 6 to 12 years, acting as their own controls assessing the benefits of side alternating vibration therapy (not all vibration is created equal!). The RCT confirmed that confirms that side-alternating Vibration therapy has positive effects on mobility, gross motor function, body composition, muscle function, and quality of life, independent of frequencies tested. In addition, kids did better after 20 session than after 12 (dosage matters). If you want to find out more about WBV parameters in kids, take a listen to Susan Hasting's podcast where we dig into the the nuances of vibration and application here > https://www.wiredondevelopment.com/single-post/cutting-edge-practice-for-pediatric-physical-and-occupational-therapists-with-dr-susan-hastings

A bright spot among the latest news

In the wake of the most disastrous and destructive wave of SCOTUS decisions since the 1800s, a single bright spot appears as Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is finally sworn in. She will serve with honor and conviction, just as her predecessor did. Justice Breyer will be greatly missed from the court and I will not soon forget his most recent dissents on gun regulations and abortion rights. He was a true champion for justice, liberty, and democracy.

Yup…

Yup…

If a few thousand apathetic Democrats had turned out to vote in 2016, Hillary Clinton would have been President and Roe would be the law of the land. Let’s not make the same mistake in the midterms.

06/25/2022

Justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer dissented to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Read the majority opinion and the dissent. https://nyti.ms/3tZXw9J

This would be a start…

Amen to that!

Christine and her therapists have an eclectic treatment approach that combines the principles of NDT, manual therapies, postural alignment, biofeedback and a variety of alternative and traditional methods.

Her clients vary in age from a few weeks of age to early twenties.
