I had a chance of a lifetime to include a steel cello in my sound healing.
I was in Upstate New York participating in an advanced training for playing the monochord, and the location had a steel cello. I had never seen or heard it played. It was love at first sight! Most people connected the sound with Halloween, and true enough, it has been used in many scary movies. I don't watch them, so I didn't have that association. To me, the sound was simply profound and traveled to places in my body that no other sound has ever been to - all those deep, dark corners, hidden from everyday life. Discovering mysteries and forgotten events in my life. All together a very healing experience.
I could not pass up the opportunity to include it in my sound bath offering. I played it for a few minutes in the beginning with soft mallets and the beams only - softly and gently. It was just amazing. No recording of it, but here is a different, and definitely more professional take on it.
I think this performance is just a perfect expression of today's world, even though it was recorded in 1989.
