When you overcook your food and it burns, that food then contains carcinogens. Even if you are just enjoying regular barbecued food, it contains excessive carcinogens. "Carcinogens" mean that it is linked to cancer. This may not be anything to worry about if you are exposed several times a year. But if you get exposed over and over again and have your own barbecue that you use dozens of times per year, you could run into quite a bit of trouble.
