Halloween can bring up a mix of joy and sadness especially for moms and kids who are missing someone. If this year feels heavy, that’s okay. You don’t need to perform “fine.”
Here are a few gentle ways to get through the night: prepare a quiet space if your child needs a break, create a small memory ritual (a candle, a photo on the porch), and give yourself permission to step away when you need it. Grief and celebration can live together and you’re doing the best you can for your family. 💛

Today we learned that anger is okay — it’s what we do with it that matters. Help your child practice small calm-down steps: stop, close your eyes, step away, and try cold water to reset. Celebrate effort, not perfection. 💙

What happens when a mother has a miscarriage?

When a mother experiences a miscarriage, it’s not just the loss of a pregnancy, it’s the loss of dreams, plans, and a part of her heart she was already deeply connected to.
Her body goes through physical changes, but her heart carries the heavier ache. The silence where there was once hope.

Healing takes time. It can look like tears, quiet moments, journaling, or even laughter that slowly returns. What a mother needs most is compassion. From herself and from others to honor what was lost and to remember that she’s still whole, even in her heartbreak.

Today’s Hope Horizons Conference in Glendale was such a beautiful reminder of what’s possible when hearts and missions align. 💙

Connecting with providers, learning about programs that support moms and little ones, and seeing Arizona come together for families navigating pregnancy, loss, and healing—it filled me with so much gratitude.

Yes, this work is heavy, but being part of something that brings hope and healing makes it all worth it. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared your stories, and reminded me why this work matters so much.

Losing a child is not “just grief”. It is a traumatic experience that shakes a parent’s identity, relationships, and daily life. Trauma can show up as anxiety, depression, nightmares, or even physical symptoms. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting, but learning to carry the love and loss together.

That’s why at Mental Heart Healing House, we use compassionate, play-based support and safe spaces for both children and parents. Because no family should walk through this kind of trauma alone. 💙
