Request for stories to protect Medicaid Services:
Traci, owner of All About Kids, will be traveling to Boise next Wednesday to participate in lobbying efforts to protect Medicaid services for children with disabilities on Thursday.
Governor Little is proposing additional Medicaid cuts for the 2027 budget year. Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech Therapy (ST) have been identified as potential services for elimination. Unfortunately, according to legal counsel for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, outpatient therapies are not protected under EPSDT and may be removed from Medicaid because they are classified as optional services. Katien Beckett is also considered an optional program.
Personal stories from parents are incredibly impactful. Hearing how therapy services have supported your child and family—and what the consequences would be without access to those services—can make a real difference. Cards or notes from children are also very meaningful.
If you are able to put something together, please drop it off at All About Kids (110 Tibbets Ln, Ponderay—by the Co-op) by Tuesday, January 20th. I will personally deliver these to legislators so your stories don’t get lost in an email inbox and instead are read and considered. I have a release of information that will need to be completed in order for me to share your info. I will leave it at the front desk.
If anyone wants to participate in the advocacy efforts, I will post the information in the comments.
Thanks! Hopefully we can influence some decisions in a positive way!!!
