Access for everyone. Regardless of how you pay, or the complexity of your conditions, we will help you find solutions. We serve everyone in Bonner and Boundary counties, whether you are covered by Medicare or Medicaid, have private insurance, are a self-pay patient, or one of our country’s veterans. If there are any concerns about how you will pay for services, talk to us. We’re here to help. We don’t just say it. We prove it. Ranked in the top 10% of community health centers across the nation, we have implemented systems that monitor and improve our delivery of care year after year. For example:
Over a period of four years, we decreased the number of patients with uncontrolled diabetes from 36 to 14%. In 2020, we reported the highest level of control in the state for our hypertensive population at 75%

We make it accessible, affordable, and achievable. Your wellbeing starts with you, but when it comes to maintaining or improving your health, choose us, your partner in healthcare.

November is Family Caregiver Awareness Month. Nearly 12 million unpaid caregivers across the U.S. providing support for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. 🌿

In 2024 alone, caregivers gave more than 19 billion hours of care often balancing work, family, and their own health along the way.

Caregivers, we see you. 🫶

We recognize your time, your love, and your strength. You’re not alone and you deserve support, too.

The Alzheimer’s Association offers free resources, education, and community programs to help you care for both your loved one and yourself.

Small lifestyle changes can make a big difference, especially when it comes to preventing or managing Type 2 Diabetes

Here are some simple ways to lower your risk:
🥗 Eat for balance. Choose more veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins — and cut back on sugary drinks.
🚶‍♀️ Move your body daily. Even a 20-minute walk can help regulate blood sugar and support heart health.
💧 Stay hydrated. Water helps your body use insulin more effectively.
🩺 Know your numbers. Regular screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol can catch changes early.
😴 Prioritize rest. Poor sleep can impact your metabolism and insulin sensitivity.

At Kaniksu Community Health, we believe prevention starts with awareness — and support.
Talk to your provider about a diabetes screening and ways to stay on track with your health goals.

💙 Mythbuster Monday! 💙

❌ Myth: Eating too much sugar causes diabetes.
✅ Fact: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes have different causes — and while eating large amounts of added sugar isn’t healthy, it’s not the sole cause of diabetes. 🍬🚫

Type 1 is an autoimmune condition, and Type 2 develops over time from a mix of factors like genetics, weight, and activity level. 🧬⚖️🏃‍♀️

At Kaniksu Community Health, we focus on prevention, awareness, and support — not blame. 💚
We’ll help you understand your risk factors and build healthy habits that work for you. 🌿

Looking for a cozy, balanced meal that fits a diabetes-friendly lifestyle?
Try this easy Sheet Pan-Roasted Chicken & Vegetables- a one-pan dinner full of flavor, fiber, and heart-healthy ingredients! 🩵

👉 Recipe & Photos Credit: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/pan-roasted-chicken-and-vegetables/

Here’s what you’ll need:
🥔 2 lbs red potatoes, chopped
🧅 1 large onion, chopped
🧄 3 garlic cloves, minced
🌿 1 Tbsp olive oil + rosemary, paprika, salt & pepper
🍗 6 skinless bone-in chicken thighs
🥬 6 cups fresh spinach
🍋 Lemon wedges to finish (optional)

Cooking Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°. In a large bowl, combine potatoes, onion, oil, garlic, fresh or dried rosemary, 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper; toss to coat. Transfer to a 15x10x1-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray.

2. In a small bowl, mix paprika, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Sprinkle chicken with paprika mixture; arrange over vegetables. Roast until a thermometer inserted in chicken reads 170°-175° and vegetables are just tender, 35-40 minutes.

3. Remove chicken to a serving platter; keep warm. Top vegetables with spinach. Roast until vegetables are tender and spinach is wilted, 8-10 minutes longer. Stir vegetables to combine; serve with chicken. If desired, serve with additional fresh rosemary and lemon wedges.
