Following knee surgery, fire cupping can be beneficial in promoting recovery by enhancing circulation, reducing inflammation, reducing scar tissue, improving range of motion, and facilitating muscle repair through the delivery of blood and nutrients to the affected area. When performed by a licensed massage therapist, cupping therapy can be safely integrated into a treatment plan, complementing exercises and other manual therapies to soften tissues, eliminate adhesions, and promote overall healing and function.

This client is 4 weeks post-surgery and making incredible strides in their recovery utilizing regular physical therapy, massage therapy, fire cupping and red light therapy.

Meet Shawna, the newest member of the Momentum team!

Hi, I’m Shawna Butz LMT. I began my journey as a massage therapist in Bend, Oregon nearly a decade ago after retiring from a career in construction administration. I had been teaching yoga for several years and my passion for teaching and transformation led me to massage therapy. After completing an accredited massage therapy program, I went on to earn an AAS degree in Massage Therapy in 2015. Since then I have operated my own massage therapy clinic alongside working at luxury spas in Oregon & Idaho. In 2018 I moved to Sandpoint and in September 2025 I took over ownership of Momentum Medical Massage & Personal Training.

When I’m not helping clients, I like to spend time adventuring outside with my amazing husband and our 5 children. We firmly believe that play is a way of life and we enjoy camping, hiking, snowboarding, snowmobiling, swimming in the lake, and exploring this beautiful place we make home.

Big news feom Momentum, if yiu didnt see the newsletter….

After 6 incredible years of owning and running Momentum, I’ve made the decision to sell the business to Shawna Butz. This decision has been on my heart for some time, though it was not an easy choice, the timing of it was very clear. The best part though? I’m not going anywhere! I’ll still be working at Momentum, doing what I love most—helping people feel better—just without the extra responsibility of running the business side. I am so grateful for every single one of you who has supported me along the way. Getting to know you and being part of your wellness journey has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life. 💜

Shawna is an amazing therapist with a big heart, and she shares the same passion and values that Momentum was built on. She’ll be running the business with the same care and commitment you’re used to, so you can expect everything to continue just as it has.
