On taking an important step towards healing your body and resolving pain issues that may be new or chronic. Your body is a dynamic vessel that is constantly shifting and changing and it is not necessary to settle for a life of pain or discomfort. It is my belief that we are all entitled to a healthy mind, body and spirit. It is from this state of health comes the strength, independence, wisdom, and joy to achieve our goals as we desire. Our life's journey brings us our greatest lessons of love and joy through many different experiences. We are able to fully experience them when we are in a state of balance with our body, mind and spirit. However, when our experiences turn to pain, illness, trauma, or grief, we fall out of balance. It is then possible for disease to settle into one or all areas of our physical, mental or spiritual bodies. We do have the ability to heal and re-establish our healthy balance by addressing the "imbalance" from a "whole" person perspective. Successful techniques can be used to resolve the physical and mental painful limitations and assist in developing inner strength and peace within one's self. You are not alone and you do have the inner strength to heal. This journey for health,growth,and joy is uniquely yours. Know that each step of the way there is compassionate support waiting for you. The Benefits of Myofascial Release for Mental Health

“The body will never lie. It stores all of your emotions and will usually showcase them center stage without your consent. If you want to deal with what’s going on in the mind you have to look at the body.” Author unknown.
Our bodies are designed to protect us physically and mentally. When danger is present, we go into “freeze or flee” response until the message of “safety” is received. Sometimes the “danger” is too over powering or repeats itsel too many times or never stops. Our coping mechanisms become overloaded and stuck in a state of trauma or mental illness. Communication systems break down between the brain, body and nervous system. Our bodies loose the ability to feel safe and move into survival mode. This strains every physical, neurological and emotional function in our bodies. In this process, the tissues in the body change creating restrictions and pain. Using a special gentle stretching technique- Myofascial Release, the restrictions are resolved by opening them up and release pain and pressure in the body. This is extremely successful in calming the nervous system and brain, allowing the body to start to feel safe once again and begin the healing process and function properly.

Tip of the Day: Diaphragm Release
Anxiety, Fear, Shortness of breath, Irritation are all signs of stress whether the source is physical or emotional. The diagram is a large muscle that powers our breathing and can directly influence the nervous system. When activated it can produce a sense of calmness and safety. Two simple strategies to use to reduce the effects of stress are:
1. Place your hand on your diagram - just below the rib cage. Softly breath in through your nose, mouth closed and then gently exhale, repeat 5-15x’s.
2. Place a soft 4-6” rubber ball in your diagram, and lie on top of it on a firm surface for 5 minutes, this will relax the muscle. It should feel like a “stretch” but not painful.

Slow it Down for Today
Did you ever notice how most days we are all running around busier than ever, doing one thing while thinking or worrying about another? Efficient - yes, healthy - not always.
Fortunately we have a very powerful part of our nervous system that helps us to achieve relaxation, decreased stress, improved immune functioning and healing - the parasympathetic branch. Another powerful tool is our brain. When we purposefully communicate with our bodies during an activity, greater areas of the brain and the nervous system are activated. We develop a sense of self awareness and amplify the health benefits of the parasympathetic nervous system. So next time you are feeling stressed or in pain, start moving gently and ask yourself what do you notice - feel, see or hear while moving.Be curious and see if you can find that just right pace that brings calmness into your day.
