🗣️ Talk About it Tuesday: Emotional Bids for Connection

Not every bid for connection sounds like “I need you.”

Sometimes it looks like:
- Look at this
- Guess what happened today
- Sending a meme
- Making a small comment

These are all quiet ways we reach for our friends, partner, colleague, and loved ones.

🌟In relationships, it’s not the big moments that build connection… it’s consistently turning toward these small ones.

So ask yourself:
Are you noticing the bids? How are you bidding? And how are you responding?

🗣️ Talk About it Tuesday 🧠

Perfectionism is often praised… but it’s rarely healthy.
It’s not just having high standards.
It’s the belief that mistakes make you less worthy.

For many, perfectionism develops as protection from criticism, rejection, or failure. If everything is done perfectly, maybe nothing can go wrong.

But perfectionism doesn’t create motivation.
It creates pressure.

Healthy striving says, “I want to do well.”
Perfectionism says, “I can’t get it wrong.”
Those are not the same.

And maybe this is your reminder:
People love to say “pressure makes diamonds”… but diamonds take millions of years to form. We’re not working on that timeline, so there’s no need to live under that much pressure.

A small update from our practice that opens the door for future growth ☀️

Stacey has officially received her clincal supervision designation, which means we will now be able to offer supervision and consultation to provisionally licensed clinicians working toward independent licensure.

With this step, we hope to gradually grow our team while continuing to support high-quality, thoughtful care in our community. We’re looking forward to welcoming and mentoring clinicians who share that same commitment!

🗣️ Talk About it Tuesday 🧠

This week, I’m offering a glimpse into my world, where dog training, psychology education, and therapy intersect. These may seem unrelated, but I promise there is a steady link bringing these 3 worlds together.

We’re talking about therapy dogs in the therapy office 🐶🧠

Tune in to today’s segment to learn more!

P.S. I could talk about this for days on end, so keeping it to a short clip was a challenge- there may be more therapy dog talk in the future 😉

If you’re interested in learning more about therapy dog programming or are interested in Animal Assisted Therapy, let’s connect!

🗣️🧠 Talk About it Tuesday

This is your reminder that your responses do not make you weak or flawed. They developed for a reason. At some point, they helped you survive, cope, or get through something hard.

Trauma responses are adaptive. Fight, flight, freeze, fawn, shutting down, overexplaining, people-pleasing, withdrawing, becoming hyper-independent, staying overly busy. These patterns often formed when your nervous system learned that the world was unpredictable or unsafe in some way.

You are not broken. Your nervous system learned to survive. Now we work on helping it learn that it is safe enough to respond differently 😌
