First of all, what is it?
is a movement. It is a movement born in Sanilac County, Michigan to educate and change the course of cyber bullying in our communities. Why are we creating a movement? In the Spring of 2015 the Sanilac County Youth Advisory Council conducted a youth needs survey to assess where youth perceived a need for change. When survey results came back from our local s
chool districts (9th 11th grade), it showed that suicide, depression, and cyber bullying all shared the #4 spot of concern for today's young people. After seeing these results Sanilac County Community Mental Health (SCCMH) stepped up to the plate and said that they wanted to be a driving force in doing something about this issue. With depression and suicide being a directly linked result of cyber bullying SCCMH set off to educate the members of our community about the impact of cyber bullying and ways to . Who do we want to reach? Of course we are focused on our area teens with the movement. But cyber bullying goes down deeper. It is a part of a belief and behavior system that we learn from life experience. Our goal is to educate adults and families alike. We want to start a conversation and create community support for the students who are willing to stand up and so that it doesn't just become a saying or a fad, but a way of life. How can you be involved? Become a part of the movement! Make sure it's something that you personally do and believe in. Post your photo to social media with the simple hashtag . Start a conversation about cyber bullying, what it is, what it does, and how to by either standing up for others or exiting the conversation.
