Our tendons are made to act like springs, they give us our power. Tendons need to be able to respond to the load we put on them and when they can’t handle the load, that is when we see a problem!

-Goal of rehab is to

1️⃣ Improve the tolerance to various forms of loading

2️⃣ Restore function of the affected tendon and muscles

-Symptom monitoring is very important during this rehabilitation process at 3 points in time

1️⃣ During the exercises

2️⃣ Immediately after the exercise

3️⃣ The day after the exercise

-Pain is subjective but should be kept between 3-5 out of 10 at all assessment points. If you are feeling great during the exercise and immediately after the exercise but wake up the next day and experience 6/10 pain then it was too much load and it needs to be reduced going forward

-Rehab framework

1️⃣ Isometrics - double leg wall sit —> double leg wall sit with heel raise —> single leg wall sit

2️⃣ Heavy, slow resistance - squat: 3 sec down, 1 sec hold, 3 sec up

3️⃣ Energy storage/Plyometrics - countermovement jump

4️⃣ Return to sport specificity training

➡️ When you think about vertigo, the first symptom that comes to mind is dizziness or the room “spinning”

➡️ For the older population, “dizziness” is often not a symptom they report when suffering from BPPV

The lack of hip internal rotation can result in “pinchy” hips. When the femur cannot rotate, the pelvis cannot move efficiently. This lack of mobility results in compensation at the SI joint and low back in order to achieve the movement.

Try these exercises to improve your hip internal rotation strength and mobility.

3 Simple Exercises to Avoid the Nursing Home 👴🧓

1. Get up and down from floor

-Your ability to do this without using your hands is a predictor of overall safety and longevity

2. Step up

-Helps to maintain the ability to climb the front steps into your home, climb/descend the staircase to your bedroom or laundry room or step up onto a curb.

3. Sit to stand

-Helps maintain the ability to get up from a low chair, the couch, or the toilet.

1️⃣ Does your child’s program include any dedicated strength or movement training — not just sport-specific drills?

2️⃣ Does your child have a genuine off-season?

3️⃣ Can they land from a jump on one leg without losing balance?

4️⃣ Do they complain of chronic soreness, fatigue, or nagging pain that never fully resolves?
